Nauvoo Trip 2024: Day 6 - More Nauvoo Fun

After driving from Carthage Jail to Nauvoo, we started our adventure at the pioneer games area.  The kids liked doing the stick pull and the girls like playing dress up.   After they played for a while we went to ride the horse drawn wagon again, since we got rained out yesterday and didn't get to do the whole ride.
On our way to the wagon ride, we stumbled across the performing missionaries about to do a little activity/show.  So, we decided to watch the show first and then go on the wagon ride.
We were glad we stayed; they are just so entertaining.  At the end of their performance, they asked for people from the "audience" to come and participate.  They did a little hokey pokey and other fun things.  It was fun to watch them, and they had a good time.
After they were done, we made our way to the wagon ride.  We got great seats and loved our water free ride around town.
After the ride the kids wanted to do some more of the activities in the Activity Center that we didn't get to the day before.  They really wanted to make a rope and Allie wanted to "bake" again in the kitchen.  Allie also dipped candles while they others made the rope.
After all the activities were completed, we went on to visit a few more houses that we hadn't seen yet.  We got to see the Taylor Home Print Shop and Post Office, the Stoddard Tin Shop, Browning Gun Shop, and the Riser Boot and Shoe Shop.  We heard lots of different stories about how things were made with tin, how shoes were made, how guns were made and the affect they had on the pioneer life.  The senior sister missionary in the shoe shop shared a story about how a really bad storm came through one day and everyone had to get to basements or hunker down with very little notice.  Her and her companion hid where there were no windows and they ended up being safe.  Infact and all the people, animals and houses were all protected from the storm, but hundreds of trees had fallen.  It was a powerful story about an amazing miracle.
They were all very interesting places to visit.  After we were done seeing all the house on that street, we decided it was time to go eat lunch.
