Pinewood Derby 2016

Tyler had his annual Pinewood Derby tonight for Scouts.  He was so excited to see how his car would race.  It was a little too heavy so Tony had to sand it down just a little bit before the race.
After all the racing Tyler's car made it to the final four.  Here are the top four challengers.  Tyler, Terran, Sam, and Parker.
Before the final race they had the kids go to their "pit crew" and have them look over the cars before the final race.  Tony was Tyler's pit crew of course.
This is Tyler explaining his design on his car.  I let him paint it all himself (that was very hard for me).  He painted some wiggly lines and a cyclone on the top.  He said that they were for speed and strength.
Tyler and the other boys waiting for the big race...
Tyler got 3rd place out of 12 cars.  We are so proud of him.  Tony said his goal was just for the car to make to the end, so we were super excited to see it do so well.
Tyler showing Tony his trophy.  Tyler said, "I won this for Dad."  They were both very happy.
Mama's little car makers.  Couldn't be more proud!

Mom & Boys Date to Teagan's Play

Teagan played the rat in Scarlet's Web at BYU.   I thought it would be a good thing to take the boys to and I was right.  They really enjoyed watching the play and it was super fun to see Teagan play a rat.
We met up with Sherri and Teagan after the play and went out to lunch..  It was fun hanging out with my two fellows and my sisters.

Tyler's Last Day of 3rd Grade

Today is Tyler's last day as a 3rd grader.  Wow!  Fourth grade just sounds so old.  He has loved this school year.  He has learned so much and really loves going to school.  He never says he would rather stay home.  He is always happy and eager to get to school.  He loves having home lunch and prefers it to school lunch.  Lucky for me he is happy with peanut butter and honey everyday.
While taking pictures by the back door for his last day Allie wanted to get in on the action.  She slid right into place and smiled big saying "eeese."  She has grown up so much this school year too.  She started out so little and happy to just sit in the stroller and now she wants to get out and play on the playground and even walk home like a big girl.
Tyler has loved his teacher, Mrs Peterson.  She is super outgoing and fun.  She is super fun but also expects a lot out of her students.  She works hard and expects them to work hard too.  Their have even been a couple times that I have found Tyler wrote "I love Mrs Pete" on his homework.  He really did love her a lot as a teacher.  I did have to have a little talk about loving your family and liking your teacher and friends.  Tyler just has a big heart.
While waiting to take a picture with his teacher this morning all the kids decided to have a big group hug with their teacher.  They all love her so much.  Next year she is going to be a mentor to teachers and then hopes to become a principal, so this is her last year being a "regular" teacher.  She started crying as she was welcoming all her students with a handshake (like she does every school day) for the very last time.
Josh told me yesterday after school that his teacher was going to dress up like a dinosaur on the last day of school.  Josh really wanted to go to school this morning so that he could see his teacher in her dinosaur consume.  He was so excited!  We went a little early to let the kids play on the the play ground and when she came out Josh was so excited to go over and see her.  She had crossing guard duty and dressed up like a T-Rex to have fun with all the kids.
Josh laughed so hard and thought that it was the funniest thing ever.  It was pretty funny to watch her run/waddle around stopping cards and letting people cross the street.  She said they told her not to scare the little kids, but all the kids I saw thought she was hilarious.  Allie wasn't interested in a picture but Megan thought she was pretty neat.  What a fun morning for the last official day of the school year!

Megan's Preschool Program

Megan had a little program for the last day of preschool.  Allie and I dropped her off at her normal time and then went home to do some house work before the program started.
Grandma Margie came to the house to walk over with us to see Megan's program.  We were a little early so we hung out outside the doors waiting to be let in.
When we first got in the room Megan was sitting very nicely on her square.  She was waiting very patiently for all the parents and family to come before the program started.
The kids first started off by singing two super silly and cute songs.  Megan started out strong with the first song but then was kind of zoning out during the first part of the second song, but then seem to bring it back together for the end.  It was kind of funny.
After the songs her teacher, Miss Katelyn, had a little certificate and a packet of questions that each student answered for each student.  She also said something nice about each kid and almost all of them seemed to enjoy being in the spot light.  Megan pretty much picked at her face and played with the eraser tray during her spot light, but that's okay.  Her teacher said Megan was very inquisitive and was really excited to have her back next school year.
After everyone got their spot light and the teachers said a few words, the kids lined up one more time for one last song.  This is the song that they sing at the end of their class on many occasions so Megan knew this one the best (and she sings it at home a lot).  She was so excited to sing and do the actions, it was adorable!
After that it was refreshment time.  Grandma Margie helped the girls get their snacks.  Before Megan got all dirty from the cookies we got a quick picture with her teacher, Miss Katelyn.  We should have gotten one with Ms Janeen too, but we didn't.
Allie was pretty fussy during the program but was very happy with the cookies and juice.  She liked going from her little chair to a little couch they had.  It was a fun little program and I am proud of our little Megan!

Josh & Megan's Last Day of School

Josh had his last day of kindergarten today.  I can't believe it.  He is now going to be a first grader and be gone at school all day.  I am going to miss this little dude being at home in the afternoons when school starts again.
He has loved kindergarten and is very excited to do summer school.  That starts just next Wednesday so he doesn't get too much time off to be lazy.  Summer school is mostly fun so not too much stress for this kid.
Megan also had her last day of preschool today.  She has loved preschool  I don't think that there has been even one day that she didn't want to go.  At the beginning of the year she would want me there to help her with her name apron and to wash her hands and then even after that she would cry sometimes when I left.  But that didn't last too long and she became a pro at doing all those things herself.   She is excited to be able to go to preschool four days a week next school year.

Josh's Kindergarten Graduation

Josh sang a song about flowers while he held up his cute flower at his kindergarten graduation.
Allie, Margie, and Megan waiting for Josh's graduation to start.  Grandpa Lloyd, Me, Grandma Kim, and Tony were also there celebrating Josh!
Josh ran up when they called his name to get his certificate.  He didn't waist anytime to turn around.  He shook hands with the principal, Mr. Carbaugh, and his teacher, Miss Christian.
Josh just went straight there and straight back to his seat.  He didn't look out at us at all.
He was so excited to have his certificate.  He was grinning ear to ear.
After he sat down he just kept looking at his certificate.  I am sure he was wondering what it said, but he sure seemed proud to get it.
Josh with his certificate.  They had some refreshments after and the kids all loved that.  I still can't believe this kid is going to be a first grader.
Josh and his teacher, Miss Christian.  He really liked her and had a great year.  She was very patient with his speech and quickly picked up how to understand him.  What a great year!

School Carnival

Josh loves the carnival and all the fun bouncy things.
Megan had no problem keeping up with the big kids on all the bouncy activities.
Tyler was bouncing up and down while trying to slide down the slide.  Silly kid.
Josh, Tyler, and Megan doing the fun bouncy thing.  They loved every minute.
Allie, however, did not love it.  She didn't want to go on any ride and just cried when Tony would try.
Megan and Josh going down the slide.  They are too cute.
Tony and Allie going down the slide.  Allie did not like it.  That didn't stop Tony from trying.
Tyler and Josh doing the games.  You get a prize no matter what every time you play, so the kids liked that.  The prizes are all junk, but since we paid an extra $2/kids for them to have unlimited play I didn't mind what the prizes were.  The kids loved them.
Josh and Megan waiting to play a game.  They liked the games but I think they liked the bouncy toys better.  It started to rain so instead of getting snow cones we went to Arctic Circle and got all the kids an ice cream cone.  Cheaper and much more delicious.
