Charleston - Last Day: Bridge & Downtown

We drove over the cool bridge on our way downtown.  It was a really cool bridge and fun to drive over.
After we ate lunch it was then time to go by the hotel to pick up our luggage and go to the airport.
Wendy's flight wasn't until after our flight so she dropped us off at the airport before taking the truck back to the rental place.
We forgot to check into our flight the night before so we didn't get seats next to each other on our first flight.
Luckily for Julie and I once we got on the plane there were two open seats in the front.  They were middle seats, but we didn't care.  I was happy and chatty with the flight attendant and she was super nice back to me.  She hooked me up with some extra peanuts and some wings for my kids.  It was a good flight all the way home.  It was slightly raining when we were walking to our car so late at night in the parking lot.  Julie then drove us all home.  It was a great trip and I am so glad that I was able to go.  I am thankful to Tony for taking care of the kids and our home while I was away playing with my mom and sisters!

Charleston - Day 3: Downtown Charleston/Calhoun House

On our last day in town we did a bit of a walking tour around downtown to see some more of the historical sites.  We went into a museum and looked around the gift shop, but didn't go into the actual museum.  We got the idea.
After that we walked to the Calhoun house where we did do the tour in that house.
This is a really big and old house where a family lives in the house but lets people come and tour it during the day.  The owner has a huge collection of antiques and collectables that he stores in the house and shares with tourist.  It was stuffed full of tons of antiques from all around the world.  I could imagine living in that house but it was interesting to go through it.
After our tour we walked around some more before finding where we wanted to go to lunch.  We found a good local place that had good reviews.  There was a wait to be seated so we went across the street where there was a really old government building with cool steps in front of it.
We sat on the steps and chatted while enjoying the view of the water and the city.  After we waited our time we went back to the restaurant to get our seats.
The food was all really good.  The adventurous eaters got oysters in the shell and ate them.  Julie and I had chicken.  Then they ordered two desserts to share.  I joked we the waiter that they wouldn't give me a fork or let me eat any of the food so when he brought the dessert he put them both in front of me.  It was pretty funny.

Charleston - Day 2: Light House Boat Tour

After we freshened up at the hotel we all got in the truck to drive to the water for our sweet Light House boat tour.
We checked in and then waited for tour to begin.  When it was our turn we all got on the boat and started our awesome water tour.
Our tour guide pointed out many different animals and birds.  He also found a couple dolphins in the water.  They drove the boat close to them so we could get a good look.  That was super awesome.
Then they drove us to an island where we had an hour or so to wander around the beach and see the light house a little closer.
It was a beautiful beach area where we looked for sea shells and other fun things by the water.  We tried to get back to our boat but found our selves having to walk around some unexpected large bodies of water.  Luckily we walked fast and made it back to our boat without them having to wait for us.
We then drove back to the docks on the boat.  It was super pretty and I loved every minute.  Once we got back to the docks we got into our truck and found a yummy local restaurant for dinner.
We decided to eat outside where they had live music.  It was a fun environment, but it was a little loud at times and kind of cold.  But it was something fun that I wouldn't normally do.
After eating lots of different types of foods we then went back to our hotel for some much needed rest (again).

Charleston - Day 2: Magnolia Gardents Part 2

Our first tour was on the tram.  We first squished onto one row and then decided to spread out and be more comfortable.
It was a good tour and we got to see lots alligators.  Big ones and even baby ones.  It was pretty cool.  We also saw lots of different birds and flowers and plants.  It was a good way to see the whole plantation.
After that tour we got to walk around some more before our boat tour.  They had an old plantation house that you could tour, but we didn't really want to do that.  Teagan did, so she went on the tour by herself.
Julie and I walked around before meeting the others at the boat tour place.  We were running a little late and worried they would leave us.  But we made it on time and then had to wait just a little minute for Teagan, Mom, and Wendy.  My mom had our tickets so we felt a little bad but the boat guide let us come and sit while we waited for the others.
After they came we were able to get our tour started.  The tour guide joked around a lot with us and was super funny.  He called us "the sisters" and kept making lots of funny comments about us.
A marathon was being run that weekend in Charleston and he thought we were there for that.  I could tell if he was serious or joking, but we laughed.
We saw a lot of alligators in the water and learned a lot more about the farming that was done a long time ago.  It was all really cool information and amazing what they used to do for goods long ago.
After that tour we walked around a little more and found an amazing white bridge.  It was so beautiful with the water around it and all the green trees and plants.  They told us that lots of brides come there to get their pictures taken.  I can totally see why, it was amazingly beautiful.
After all that we were hungry and ready for lunch.  So we went back to the main shopping area and got us some food.  After eating we decided that we had seen all that we wanted to and that were ready to go back to our hotel.

Charleston - Day 2: Magnolia Plantation/Gardens

After eating the same breakfast that we had the morning before we headed off to go to the Magnolia Plantation.  They offer tours, shopping, eating, and walking around the grounds.
We got tickets for a boat tour and a tram tour.  While we waited for our different tour times we walked around the beautiful gardens and grounds.
They had a little petting zoo that was fun to go into and see different animals.  Brought out the kid in us all.
After the zoo we walked around and saw all the plants, gardens, bridges, and more.  It was super pretty and we all loved it.

Charleston - Day 1: Lunch, Shopping, Walking, & Dinner

We decided to go to one of the restaurant that our tour guide suggested.  We got different appetizers and yummy food.  I just shared with everyone and that was perfect for me.  I did eat a chicken wing that made me sick.  I think that I must have eating too big of bite and maybe I ate it too fast, but it did not sit well at all.  After about 20 minutes of pain and suffering the pain went away and I felt much better.
Walking around all the fun shops that were down town definitely helped me feel better too.  They had a large swap meet type shopping area down town.  Tons of little booths to look at and we all found a little something that we liked.
After walking around and shopping we decided to go back to our hotel.  Right by our hotel is a boat storage area where the boats are stored on a large shelving unit.  I had never seen one of these before and thought it was super cool.
Teagan had some homework to do so we left her at the hotel while we all went out to dinner.  We found another local place that had good reviews so we thought we'd try it out.  It was called Swing & Swine.  It was super yummy and we all liked it.  After dinner we went back to our hotel to get ready for bed and get a good nights sleep.

Charleston - Day 1: Morning Fun

Wendy got a sweet truck for our rental car and it worked out perfect. We all fit perfect in the cab and we looked super cool driving around in our cool truck.
After getting ready and eating breakfast, our plan was to go site seeing downtown.  Our first activity was to go on a horse drawn carriage ride around downtown Charleston.
The horses were beautiful and we were so excited to go on our tour.  Our tour guide was so good.  He is a local guy and had tons of awesome information about the town.  He told us that we all needed to eat local.  He said that if we went to the Olive Garden he would kick us out with our bread stick.  It was funny.  He did give us a couple recommendations, so that was good.
We all loved our horse ride and we learned a lot about the area and the history.
Charleston is so pretty.  I really wished that I would have studied up on American History before I went on this trip so that I would have been more familiar with the names and the stories that were shared.
