November Happenings

Megan received an award for her excellence in reading.  She has really gained a love for reading these past few years and it is still going strong.  She reads every night and was even asked to read an extra book for her English teacher to let a committee know what kids her age thought about the book.

Allie had her Primary Program a couple Sundays ago.  My siblings were able to chime in and watch Allie and sent me a couple screen shots of her singing.
She did a great job with her part.  She was originally given a shorter part, but the primary president asked that we add to it, and I worked with Allie to come up with the rest of her talk.  She added her testimony, and it was very sweet.  She also did so good with all of the songs.  She had no problem singing loud and really helped carry to rest of the kids.
Allie has been working hard on cards and gifts for all of her family members for Christmas.  I came down into the office and found a table full of all the cards and the gifts that she had ready for each of her cousins and aunts and uncles.  She isn't done with them yet, but she wants to be done with the family that lives in California before we go there for Thanksgiving next week.  She is doing this all on her own and I have only helped with how to spell people's names.  She has such a big heart and is so nice to include everyone.

Tyler's Getting Asked to Two Dances

Tyler got asked to go to the Sadie's Hawkins Dance at Taylorsville High School.  Ella is a nice girl that he worked with almost every weekday over the summer at the Rec Center.  She also is a referee of soccer too.
A week after he got asked to Taylorsville's dance, he got asked to Granger's Winter Formal.  Rebekah is a friend from our stake that he took to the Homecoming Dance last year.
He came up with the sayings for how he wanted to answer each of the girls all by himself.  It was fun to see his creative side come out.  He is very excited to go to both of these dances.

Veteran's Day at the Tabernacle

Tyler had the opportunity to sing at the Tabernacle with the Madrigals and other choirs from Granite School District on Veteran's Day.

The Army Band also played with the choirs, and they had a couple speakers and awards given.  It was a beautiful concert and a wonderful tribute to the veterans who have served our country.  The choir and the band both sounded so good.  It was fun to see Tyler singing with so many other kids and also seeing many kids from our ward.

Tony and I went early downtown and got some dinner at City Creek before going to the concert.  Josh had a cold, so we let the kids stay home for the night.  I am really glad that we were able to go to this great concert and hope to go again in the future.

Touring Utah State University

We had the opportunity to go to Logan and tour Utah State University.  Julie said that she was going to come and take Hayden to tour USU, so I decided that sounded fun and signed up Tyler too.  Betsy also signed up Logan.

On Friday afternoon we took the three younger kids to Margie's for a sleepover and then Tony, Tyler and I drove up to Logan.  We checked into our hotel and then went over to Kevin's house.

We chatted with the Clark's before the Sutherland's got there.  Kevin and Betsy made up some spaghetti for the kids and then us adults went out to eat at Texas Roadhouse.  It was a good meal with good conversation.  After dinner we walked around Costco before going back to Kevin's house.  We stayed for a little while before going back to our hotel for the night.

The next morning, we checked out of our hotel and then met up at USU for some breakfast on campus.  We then had an orientation before going on a tour of the campus.  It is a nice school with lots to offer, but Tyler didn't seem to think that is where he wanted to go.

They also provided lunch, and we decided that we had seen enough.  Betsy got the boys their USU t-shirts and then we left to go see Kevin and Betsy's offices.  We then went and got some Aggie ice cream.  It was so fun hanging out with my siblings, their husbands, and our college bound boys.  It's crazy that we are already at this time of life.

Allie's Playing Indoor Soccer

Allie decided she wanted to do indoor soccer again.  Tony is coaching her team (which is really easy for indoor soccer because they don't have any practices).

She is having fun playing but is a little scared of the ball.  I am not sure she will want to play again, but I am glad that she is trying soccer again.

Halloween 2024

The week of Halloween was full of fun activities.  For mutual they had a combined Halloween party.  Megan dressed up as a princess, Tyler Luigi, and Josh didn't want to dress up.  They all had fun with the games and enjoyed the treats.

Allie was a random Slithering from Harry Potter this year for Halloween.  She was very excited about that since she is in the Slithering House in her class at school.  Drako is her favorite character in Harry Potter.

Tony was able to come and watch Allie in her last Halloween parade at school.  Lloyd and Margie also came and supported Allie.  It was very sad to think that it was our last Halloween parade because Allie will be going to the Jr. High next year for the sixth grade.

I went back to the school after lunch to do Allie's class party.  I did a Bingo game, and another mom did a different game.  I think that the kids liked it.  They all got treats and even got out of school early this day because the kids didn't have school the next day.  It was perfect timing to not have school the day after Halloween.

Later that night Tony took the girls out trick-or-treating with Megan's friend and her family.  Megan dressed up at a dragon this night.  The boys went to a haunted house with friends and then watched a movie at their house.  They all had a great time, and the girls got lots of candy.  Hard to believe another Halloween is over.  Bring on Thanksgiving.

Pre-Halloween Fun

We have been having fun this Halloween season.   I bought a couple pumpkins for the girls to paint, but one unfortunately went rotten on the porch.  With the good one Allie painted a rainbow cat.  She originally only painted half of pumpkin so that Megan could pain the other half, but Megan didn't want to do that.

While we helped my parents with some yard work my mom gave Allie a gourd.  She decided to paint it like a snowman and put it on the porch.

We had fun at the ward trunk-or-treat.  I got a car decorating kit this year and that was fun.  After the kids went around to all the cars, we all went inside and ate some chili and corn bread.  It was a fun night and really got us excited for Halloween.

Our Josh

Josh finally got his learner's permit.  It took him a couple tries, but he has it now.  He is excited to start learning how to drive.

Josh is such a sweetheart with a little girl that sits in front of us at church.  She likes to play with Josh, and it just warms this mama's heart.

Megan Fall Ball Tournament

Megan is officially done with fall ball.  She had a great season and had lots of fun.

The season ended perfectly with a double win to be the tournament champions.

Each team was encouraged to dress up for the tournament.  Megan's team decided to dress up in onesies.  Megan chose a dragon and looked very cute.  She lasted about half of the first game before taking it off.  I was not a fan of the idea of wearing onesies to play softball, but that is what the other girls chose to do.

They played well and won the first game and then fought hard to win the next game.  After the game they all got tournament champion t-shirts.

Before the tournament the girls got their medals for coming in third place for the season.  It was a fun day, and the girls all had so much fun winning the tournament.  Megan then wore her new shirt to the ward trunk-or-treat that night.
