First Day of School

The kids started their first day of school on Monday.  They were all very excited to go back and a little nervous for their new classes.  Tyler was super excited and wasn't nervous at all.  He met up with kids from our ward and they all walked to the Jr. High together.  They were all super cute all excited together.  Tyler said that he had a great day and has friends in each of his classes and friends to sit by at lunch.  I was very glad to hear all that.

Josh was the most nervous.  He is in a 5th/6th grade split class this year and that made him more nervous then usual.  He did come home from school saying that he had a great day and did have some friends in his class.
Megan and Allie both had a great first day of school.  They both really like their teachers.  Megan's good friend, Katelyn, is in her class so that made her very happy.  Allie's class size is pretty small for the kids actually going to school.  Only 11 kids starting out at the school this term in Allie's class.  Allie's best buddy, Angel, hasn't been seen at the school this year so that has made her sad.
They all had a great first day of school and said that wearing masks isn't too bad.  Megan did come home with a sore nose from the mask, so we have been having her wear a different style and that has helped.
Many people think school will only be in for a few weeks because of possible outbreaks of Covid, but I am hopeful that the kids can stay in school and enjoy all the benefits from being their in person.  I know they need it and so do I!

Tea Party with Grandma Kim

While we were at my parents house to go swimming two weeks ago Megan didn't want to swim so my mom got out her Shirly Temple doll and let Megan play with her.  She got out all the dresses and shoes and had so much fun playing with Shirly.
My mom invited the girls to bring over their dolls to have a tea party for them and their dolls.  We brought over the doll tea set that the girls got for Christmas from my mom and their dolls.  The girls helped grandma make cookies and then we made sandwiches to have for our tea party.
We all had fun drinking lemonade, eating small sandwiches, fruit, chips, and cookies.  We talked like proper ladies and had fun.  It is so fun having girl time doing girl things with grandma.

Canned Corn

Last week Tony helped at the Murray Cannery while they canned corned.  His boss wanted Tony to help manage that cannery while he was out of town.  One of the days that he was there I took the kids to the cannery to see how they can corn.
The process was really fun to see and they even gave us some corn to take home and eat.  It was loud and hot in their but we all liked seeing the process from beginning to end. And seeing Dad during the day is always a great treat.

Cabin Weekend

Tony finally had a Saturday off of work so we decided to go up to the cabin after Tyler's baseball practice Saturday afternoon.  It was so hot in the valley and it was nice to go up and enjoy a little cooler weather up in the mountains.
We did lots of four-wheeling, relaxing, eating, and playing games.  It was just us and my mom Saturday until Sunday mid-morning.  My dad came, then Julie's family, and then later after we ate lunch Kevin's family came up for a visit before going to a dinner with Betsy's family.
It was the perfect get a way and we love it.  We are very blessed to be able to go up to the cabin when we want a quick vacation.  Spending it with family is even better.

Summer Swimming Fun

It has been so hot lately so we have really been loving playing in the water, especially Allie.  We went to my parents house and the kids swam there and then Allie wanted to swim again at our house.  I enjoy watching these silly kids having fun and enjoying their summer!

Oregon 2020 - Day 10 & 11

The next day we drove to Winnemucca.  We checked into our hotel and then took the kids swimming.  They love swimming and that is their favorite part of going to hotels.  We let them swim for a long time before going back to the room to get showered and washed.  We decided to just do pizza again for dinner in the hotel room.  It was so nice and relaxing and cool.  It was hot there too.

The next day we ate breakfast, packed the car, and drove home.  The drive wasn't too bad and didn't take too long.  The hardest was the heat.  We really enjoyed the cooler Oregon weather and it was a hard thing to come back to the heat.  It was such a great trip and we had a great time.  We really missed Tony and it was hard not having him there.  But it was so nice to get away and have quality time with our family, especially grandma Margie.

Oregon 2020 - Day 9 - Wildlife Safari

On our way home we decided to go to the Wildlife Safari park and it was a lot of fun.  It took us a couple of hours to get there from Coos Bay but the drive was good.  We parked and went through the walk through part of the park.  We saw different animals and they even had a petting zoo.  They also had a train (which we didn't go on, seemed pricey) and you could ride a camel.  We didn't do that either.
After we saw everything we decided to get a snack in the park  We ate some yummy pretzels and nachos.  We even bought a couple bags of popcorn and they were delicious.  Then we went through the gift shop before going back to our car.
Once in the car we went through the drive thru part of the park.  We saw lots of different animals and it was fun to see them.  It was pretty busy and we had some traffic slow downs, but it was a good experience.
After we saw everything we headed towards our next hotel.  We decided to stay in California and drive through Mt. Shasta.  It was really pretty to drive up through the mountain and see the huge lake.  The drive was beautiful and it was a fun drive.  It was so hot where we stayed that night.  It was 108 degrees when we got there.  We tried to eat at a restaurant but they weren't letting people eat inside and it was way too hot to eat outside, so we got take out and ate at the hotel.  It was a nice evening of eating and resting at the hotel.

Oregon 2020 - Day 8

Some of the other families had to leave early so the last full day there it was just us, the Clark's, and my parents.  We went out to breakfast with just the adults and that was fun.  After breakfast we took the kids to the beach to play for the last time of that trip.

After lunch we went to a Japanese garden with the kids.  It was really pretty and we all liked walking around the gardens and then letting the kids play on the playground.  The weather was so nice and it was super fun.

We decided to get pizza for the kids that night so that the adults could go out to dinner.  The kids played at each other's cottages and enjoyed playing with their cousins.  Tyler and Conner, Megan and Teagan, and Allie and Jenni all play really good together and enjoyed their quality time.  Margie and I enjoyed more adult time and dinner with my parents and the Clark's.  The food was good and so was the company.
