Pioneer Day 2022

We really didn't do much for Pioneer Day.  The three younger kids slept at Margie's house the night before because Tyler had FSY the next day.

Tony and I took Tyler and Porter down to BYU to start FSY (For the Strength of Youth).  We went to get lunch first at Two Jack's Pizza.  It was so good, as always.  After eating lunch, we went and got them checked into FSY.  We found their dorm and got their room keys.  After we saw that they were all settled, Tony and I left them.

We then decided to stop at the Lehi Costco, ya know, for fun.  After that we went and picked up the kids from Margie's.  They had a great time there, of course.  After coming home and hanging out for a bit, the kids wanted to play with the pop-its.  They each got a bunch of boxes and went wild popping them all over the sidewalk and street.  That was the extent of our fireworks this year.  Small, but a good time was had.

Swimming at the Taylorsville Pool

We finally made it to the outdoor swimming pool.  It was a nice overcast day.  Grandma Margie joined us in all the fun. Josh, Megan, and I loved the slide and rode it many times.  Josh jumped off the diving board a bunch of time and that was fun to watch.

Tyler had to work that day, so he joined us about an hour in with all his summer camp kids.  Josh liked hanging out with Tyler and the silly kids and I think that Tyler liked having us there.   After a couple of hours everyone was asked to leave the pool because of bad weather and lightning.  We were able to get return passes to come back because we had to leave.  We had a great time and look forward to coming back again.

Activity Days Activity to Church Musuem

The girls got to go to the church history museum downtown with the Activity Days girls in our ward.  They loved seeing all the cool things in the museum and especially enjoyed the ice cream.  They always have such a great time with their leaders, Brother and Sister Jones.  They spoil the girls and love them so much.

Summer Trip 2020 - Day 10 & 11: Independence Day & CA to SLC

The next morning was the 4th of July.  Tony picked up some donuts for all of us for breakfast that morning.  After eating we went on a golf cart ride and then headed to the local parade.  Boyd saved us some seats and it was the perfect spot to watch the little parade.  It was only about a half an hour long, but it was fun to see what other cities do for their parades.

Once that was over, it was swimming pool and BBQ time.  My kids love swimming so much.  Allie did really good using the skills that she learned at swim school.  She would jump into the pool and then swim to the other side.  That is pretty huge for her.  In fact, her and Kimball were the last kids in the pool this day.  They were trying to see who could last the longest in the pool.  They decided to get out at the same time, so they both won.

After eating and changing from the pool, we all relaxed for a while. I took Allie and Tyler on a golf cart ride and even had Tyler drive a little.  That is always fun.  After that we went back to Julie's house for cake for Averee's birthday.  We all hung out there until it was time to go to the fireworks.  We found a place to park and then walked down to the park where Gabe had saved us all a spot.  It was a great spot to watch the fireworks.  The kids played until the fireworks started.  Auburn put on a good show, and we all loved it.  The traffic was a little crazy after and it took us a long time to get back to Wendy's, but well worth it.

The next morning, we woke up super early to get on the road.  We were all ready to get back home after our long vacation.  The drive home was slick, with no problems.  We were all happy to be home, even though it was super-hot.  It's always nice to be home after a vacation.

Summer Trip 2020 - Day 8 & 9: Coos Bay to Auburn, CA - Swimming & Church

We woke up and got the rest of the car packed up and then turned in our key. We then drove to Wendy's house.  It took us about nine hours to get there.

The kids wasted no time getting into the pool.  Julie's family quickly joined us, and the kids all had a wonderful time playing in the pool.

After we then got some Mexican food for dinner.  When we got back, we went for a golf cart ride around Wendy's neighborhood.  The kids always love going for rides and seeing all the animals.

The next morning, we got ready to go to church.  Tony took the girls for a ride on the golf cart before we had to leave for Julie's ward.  After church we went back to Wendy's to change and then we went to Julie's for dinner.  They are great at hosting and the food was delicious.  We then went back to Wendy's house for a good night's sleep.

Summer Trip 2020 - Day 7 (Cont.): Shore Acres Rocks, Beach Time, & Warehouse Fun

On the other side of Shore Acres is a fun trail that takes you to the beach, but before you get there you find this huge rock area.  It is so fun to climb on the rock and take fun pictures.  We love going here and exploring.
After we were done, we went back to the cottages and took the kids to the beach for the last time.  It was pretty, but super cold this day.  After the beach we went to the warehouse for a crab feast.  My dad, Boyd, and Kevin went crabbing early that morning and got about 26 crabs for the feast.  Not all of us like crab, so my dad bought us pizza as well.  After we ate, the kids all watched the movie that they made in the warehouse.  They loved it.  It was the Gloop Glop 2.  Last year they made the original Gloop Glop.  The kids love doing this together.
After the showing we then had s'mores.  After we had our fill, we went back to the cottages to start packing.  We were leaving the next morning and I wanted everything ready to go.  We all then went to bed after a very busy, fun day!
