Oregon Trip 2023 - Day 5: Lavern Park - Crawdad and Salamander Catching

We enjoyed a relaxing morning at the cottages.  I went with Wendy to go get her car tire fixed and to get her Oregon license plates for her car.  Both took a lot longer than we thought it would.  But I was glad that I was able to go with her so that she wasn't by herself.
Once we finished with those errands we went back to the cottages where everyone was getting ready to go to Lavern Park.
Tony had fed the kids before I got back, so I grabbed some food for myself before we got in the car and drove about an hour to Lavern Park.
The weather was perfect this day to play in the water and explore the area.  We all spent most of our time catching crawdad's and finding salamanders.  Some of the kids started out slow on wanting to catch the crawdad's or touch a salamander, but by the end they were all very brave and had caught some of each.
It was really cool to see the crawdad's come to the bacon that was attached to a fishing hook.  They ended up catching a lot of crawdads, but we didn't keep any of them.  Just fun to catch and then let them go.
Some of the kids did play in the water.  Josh and Tyler spent a lot of time exploring the water and swinging from the rope swing, well mostly Tyler and Hayden did the rope swing.  Tony and I spent most of our time watching all the action and walking back and forth from each of the kids doing their different activities.
Allie really liked playing on the playground with Jenni and Graham.  There were a couple of other kids there too, so that made it extra fun.
After many hours of fun, we all cleaned up and then drove back to the cottages.  Such a fun day.
