Pioneer Day Fireworks

Last night we did fireworks at my parents house for Pioneer Day.  We did it a night early because my parents were going up to the cabin today and wouldn't be back tonight.
We headed over there after we ate dinner and hung out for a little while before setting off our parachutes.  We get the cheep smaller parachutes so that we have lots to set off and the kids have lots to chase after.  It was a pretty windy evening so some of them went on the neighbors house and in their trees.
Megan really got into chasing the parachutes this year and it was really fun to see her get into it just as much as her brothers.  We still have a couple more packs that I think we will do tonight.
After the parachutes we got out the pop-its and let the kids throw them all around.  Pop-its are perfect for little kids.  No worrying about them hurting themselves or others.  So much safer then sparklers.
It still wasn't dark enough to start the real fireworks so we just hung out and let the kids play.  Some of the neighbor kids came over and they played together for a little while.  They wanted to see my parents chicken and play in their back yard.
My dad had a trailer full of mulch to take up to the cabin in front of his house and the kids thought it was the funnest thing ever.  Luckily there was a tarp covering the mulch, but the kids got plenty dirty climbing up and and down the tarp.  Megan's feet were pretty much black by the end of the evening.  Good thing for bath tubs and wash machines.
The kids played king of the hill and then slid down the tarp like it was a slide.  Grandma got out some watermelon and the kids thought the trailer was the perfect place to eat their snack.  There is just something about a trailer that is so much fun to play on.
It started getting dark enough so they moved the trailer out of the way and I got the show started.  I decided that I would be the person in charge of the fireworks this time.  My mom and sister went in on some aerial fireworks so I was pretty excited to set those off.
My parents neighbors from all around them came over and watched the show too.  It's always more fun with more people.  There were some fun fountains and then we had eight aerials. We mixed the aerials in with the fountains to make for an exciting show.  The aerials were amazing and so fun to see so close.  After the fireworks were over we got the kids changed into their jammies and then headed home to get Tony to bed.  He was super nice and sacrificed a couple hours of sleep to spend time with the family.  I think it was worth it, we had a good time.
