Taylorsville Temple Open House

We finally went through the Taylorsville Temple Open House as a family.  We invited Lloyd and Margie to come with us.

They came and picked us up at our house and then we parked at the old Driver's License Division parking lot and took a shuttle over to the temple.

It is so pretty.  We loved showing the kids all the pictures and the flowers all over the temple.  They all seemed to love it and it was a delight to go through as a family.

We then walked around the temple outside and just loved all the tulips and the beautiful temple building.  There are so many places to take pictures and where you could just sit and enjoy the temple grounds.

After we went to Wendy's for Frosties and French fries.  It was a perfect way to spend time together.  Families really are forever!

More Baseball Fun

We are still loving watching Tyler play baseball.  He is doing good and having fun.  Allie has been loving coming with us too.  She brings her scooter and a backpack full of toys to keep herself entertained.  The season is almost done and then it will be time to start summer ball.  We are loving this season in life.  Busy but great.

April Happenings

We've been having a fun time this month.  Grandma Margie got a new TV at her house and the girls had fun playing in the box that it came in.
We got to go out to dinner for Grandpa Lloyd birthday.  We went to Los Garcia, and it was super yummy.  They put the hat on him and sang him Happy Birthday.  It was fun being with him on his special day.
Tony and I got to be Ushers at the Taylorsville Temple Open House.  I stood outside the chapel and Tony was stationed by the elevator.  He got to push the button for people who needed to use the elevator.  He was just around the corner from me, so we could see each other every now and then.  It was such a neat experience.  I loved really taking the time to look at the paintings and loved seeing people's reaction to the beautiful temple and paintings.  Such a neat thing to experience.

Josh got an award at school for getting good grades while he played volleyball.  I am so proud of him for being such a hard worker and keeping himself busy with school, work, and a sport.

Music Recital

The kids all had their music recital a couple Sundays ago at a church building in our stake.  They all did really well.
Allie started out by singing her three songs that she has been working on.  I feel super bad because I thought that I was recording her first song but turns out that I just took a picture and didn't record it.  But I got the other two songs.  She sounded so good.  She sang out proudly and didn't seem to be nervous. Very impressive for her first recital in front of a bunch of people, most of which she didn't know.

Megan, Josh, and Tyler all did really well playing the piano.  It has been so fun to see their progress in this musical talent.  I was one very proud mama of my musical kiddos, and Tony too.

Megan Lagoon Day with Safety Patrol

Megan got to go to Lagoon with the Safety Patrol.  She took the bus from the school and Tony drove his car there so that he could go around with her.  She buddied up with a friend, Shay and those three went around the park for the day.  She had so much fun and went on tons of the rides.  It was a rainy day, but they made the most of it.  Tony told her that they could stay and close down the park, but she was done and wanted to ride home on the bus.  She said she had tons of fun and was glad that she did the Safety Patrol.

Debate Competition

Megan and Allie had their Debate competition.   They were both very excited and ready to debate the pros of social media.

They both did so good with their partners.  It was so fun to go watch them.  They seemed so grown-up debating and they made their parents very proud.

It was so funny to hear Allie's opening statement, "Do you like social media? Me too!"  It made to laugh since she doesn't even have a phone, let alone is on social media.  So funny.
They didn't make it to state and that really made them sad.  They were literally a point or two away from going.  I think this has been a great experience for both of them and they have learned a lot.

Baptism of Bob Shearer

The boys got to participate in the baptism of Bob Shearer.  Bob is an older gentleman in our ward who, for as long as we've been in the ward (20 years) has gone with his wife to church, but he himself has never been a member.  Adam Shepherd felt inspired while he was at the temple to ask Bob if he wanted to be baptized.  So, Adam talked with Bob and his wife, and they said yes.  They called the missionaries, and he got the lessons.  Amazing, right!

So, Adam was asked to baptize Bob and then they knew that he would need help physically getting in and out of the water, so they asked Tyler to help.  They also asked Josh to be a witness along with his wife.

They built a relationship with Tyler and Josh because they had been doing sacrament for the homebound for the Shearers while Bob has been recovering from a broken back and cancer.  They really got to know them and became good friends.  It's such a neat story.  I hope the boys remember this forever.

After the baptism we all went to the rec center to sign the kids up for a free summer program and then we went out to lunch.  It was a great morning and we all felt uplifted by the spirit.

Spring Has Sprung

We are loving all the beautiful blossoms on the trees and all the pretty flowers.  We had a partial eclipse the other week and it was pretty cool.  I had glasses that I could see the sun, but I also got out our strainer and took a picture.  I thought that was pretty cool.

We got to go see Tyler play at Murray's baseball field and Allie got to come with us.  It was a beautiful day and fun to watch the game.

Spring Softball Has Begun

The beginning of softball came in like a lion, for sure.  It was a super cold day and then it snowed and was super windy.  Megan was such a champ about the crazy weather.  They did stop the game halfway for a weather delay to let the snow and wind die down.  I got Allie all set up in the wagon with the umbrella so that she was protected from the wind and snow.
Megan played a double header this day too.  She did great with the crazy weather, and we were proud of her for not complaining and playing her best.  We love watching her play and are excited to see how she does this season.

Baby Animal Days

We went up to Wellsville to go to Baby Animal Days with Betsy and Sherri's family.

We met up with Betsy's family at their house and then drove to the farm.  Sherri was running late, so she met up with us there.

We started off by going on the train.  It was a cute little train that goes around in a circle a couple of times.  Good times were had.

Then we saw all the animals.  Tons of cute chicks, ducks, pigs, turtles, bunnies, baby bears (we could only look at those, no touching), and probably the most popular was the baby goats and sheep.  The kids all loved holding the baby goats.  They were so sweet and loved being held.  Tyler and Josh probably would have stayed all day holding the goats.

We also got some yummy kettle corn and shared with the group.  We enjoyed it on our tractor ride through the fields.  It was a nice long ride.  Megan didn't want to lose her hat, so she put it in her bag and put her bag under her seat.  What she didn't know is that there was a hole under her seat, and she lost her bag.  She started crying and felt so bad.  I told her it was fine and that we would get her bag after we got back to where we started.  It was kind of funny that she was trying so hard to be responsible and then it still fell out of the tractor.  Tyler was able to run and grab the bag and everything was good again.

We then went to the old houses and the kids played old pioneer games.  After that we had pretty much seen everything.  We then bought some more kettle corn and then made our way to the car.  We then went to Costco with Betsy's family for lunch.  Then we stopped at Gossner's for some yummy dip that Tyler and Tony love.  We then drove home.  It was a fun activity, and we were glad that we were able to go.
