Snow Days

We have been getting a good number of storms this winter.  We had a storm come through that dropped at least 14 inches of snow overnight.  It was so much that the snow blower couldn't move it until I made a path first.  The schools were all moved to distance learning for two days because of the snow and the lack of plowed roads.  It is nice that the kids can do distance learning instead of having a snow day that has to be made up.  I was pretty sore after shoveling and snow plowing.  The kids played in it for a while, but mostly stayed inside doing schoolwork.

Disney Trip 2023 - Disney Ride Pictures

Because of the 100-year celebration of the Disney company, Disneyland gave everyone free ride pictures.  So, we tried to get all of our pictures with the funny faces we make on these rides.

On Saturday we checked out of our hotel and drove to Cedar City to stay for the night.  Josh wasn't feeling very good this day and just rested the whole day.  Tony took the girls swimming and Margie joined them.  Tyler went and worked out at the gym while they swam.  I stayed in the hotel with Josh.  Tony picked up pizza for dinner and we ate it in our rooms.  The next morning, we drove back home.  The roads were clear, and we had no problems driving home.  It was such a great trip, and we all had a wonderful time.

Disney Trip 2023 - Day 7 & 8: Even More Disney Fun

Thursday and Friday got a lot busier at the parks.  Thursday was just mildly busy, but Friday was nutso busy.  We ended up leaving early on Thursday to have dinner outside the park at the hotel and of course we had Joe's Italian Ice. Super yummy stuff.

Because it was so busy, we decided to eat lunch outside of the park at the Earl of Sandwiches.  After I took the boys on the monorail to go back to the park while Tony, Margie, and the girls went to the Disney hotels to get the medallions from their machines.  Margie got all the medallions for the 100-year anniversary.  It didn't take them very long and they met us back at Disneyland while they boys were riding Star Tours.

We were able to ride Mickey's Runaway Railway again on Thursday.  It broke down right before we were done on the ride, and we had to get exhorted off the ride.  But they gave us a lighting lane pass to come back and ride it again...so we did.  It really is a great ride.

We got another queue pass on Friday for that ride, and it was pretty busy.  We waited in the line and the ride ended up breaking down.  We decided to wait it out.  They said it typically goes down for like an hour before they get it back up.  But our feet were tired, and the park was busy, so we figured that we'd have to wait in a line no matter what, so we might as well wait it out.

We saw lots of characters and rode the Mark Twain boat before deciding to have some ice cream.  It tasted extra good that day.  After that we decided to go on Rise of the Resistance again.  It said in was like a 60-minute wait, but then it quickly changed to 120 minutes.  That was way too long.  So instead, we ate some dinner at the Plaza and then we did the rest of our shopping at the stores.  I then took back Josh, Megan, and Allie to the hotel.  They were all so tired and their poor feet hurt so bad from 5 days at the park.  Tony, Margie, and Tyler were strong and stayed back to go on more rides.  They went over to DCA and rode a bunch of rides that you can do single rider.  Then they finished the night waiting for Guardians of the Galaxy.  The park was then closed so they considered going back to Disneyland, but it still was so busy that they just called it a night.  What an amazing time at Disneyland we all had!

Disney Trip 2023 - Day 6: More Disney Fun

Wednesday, we started at Disneyland again.  This was the coldest day of our trip, but still totally worth it.  The park wasn't super busy again and we were able to get on lots of rides.  We met the couple from Provost Park Pass and that was fun.  They are youtubers who we've seen do Vlogs on Disneyland.
We finally took the time to go over to Tom Sowers Island.  We had never done that, and it was lots of fun.  We liked going in the caves and climbing on things.  I think we will have to keep doing that in the future.

We were able to do tons in Disneyland before we went over to California Adventure.  We got shakes there and the yummiest caramel popcorn.  That night got so cold that I bought a sweatshirt to go over my jacket, but I was still cold.  Luckily, we didn't stay too late, and we went back to the hotel for the night.

Disney Trip 2023 - Day 5: Birthday at Disneyland

We started this day at Disneyland.  I got my birthday pin when we first got into the park.  I took Allie on Dumbo first time while the others did a bigger ride.  We got in the queue for Mickey's Runaway Railway again for this morning.  So, we were able to ride a couple rides before it was our turn to go on the ride.  It was still awesome, and we loved it.

The park still wasn't super busy, so we were able to go on a lot of rides again.  We had a lunch reservation at The Carnation for my birthday.  It was super yummy.  They sat us out on the patio, and it was really cold.  We asked them to turn on the patio heaters and that helped a lot.

We then spent the rest of the day meeting characters, enjoying rides, snacks, and each other.  We were able to just walk on Rise of the Resistance because we just happen to be right by the ride when it reopened after being down.  That was super awesome, I love that ride.  We had a great day, and I had an extra special birthday.
