Oregon 2018 - Day 8: Wildlife Aquarium Center

After we got all cleaned up from the beach we got ready for the day.  Our first stop was to the Wildlife Aquarium that is by the dock.  They just opened this place last year and so it was our first time checking it out.  Kids were free so we only had to pay for the adults.  So that was extra nice.
They had a touching area full of water, fish, and star fishes.  That was super fun to touch these live things.
We got to see lots of different types of sea life.  Some were live and others were not.  The kids really liked seeing the crazy crabs in their tank going crazy trying to climb over each other.
Since the aquarium is right by the docks we were able to see the dock workers unloading shrimp from the boat.  It was very interesting to watch the process from boat to big boxes full of ice.  Tony was fascinated and watched for a long time.
They had a hands on scientific room where the kids could look through the microscopes and magnifier glasses at different types of sea life things.
They also had skeletons of really big whales, sea lions, seals, etc.  It was very interesting.
We were glad that we all went and learned us some fun things about sea life.
After the Aquarium we went to the Seafood festival that was located in the parking lot of the docks right by the ocean.
We thought that there would be a lot more seafood options from the food trucks, but their wasn't much.  So we got a couple meat sandwiches for the boys and the girls had some chicken and fries.  Tony and I got a very large corn dog and fries.  It was very good.
After eating we walked around the different booths and got us some swag.  We did find a cute jewelry place where we got a couple cute bracelets for the girls.  It was fun.

Oregon 2018 - Day 8: Morning Run & Fun on the Beach

Wendy and Julie are training for a half marathon and wanted to do a morning walk/jog on the beach.  They invited me to go with them, and though I was hesitant I did go, I did pretty good walking and jogging with them.  We went about five miles and it felt pretty good.
After we were done we found our families at the beach playing in the sand and the water.
Those silly kids just can't get enough of the beach and the freezing cold ocean water.

Oregon 2018 - Day 7: More Fire Fun at Great Grandpa's & DQ

Another fun night at Grandpa's house around the fire pit.  The girls love playing in the boat pretending like they are on the open seas.
Megan helped Uncle Gabe chop fire wood and did a very good job.
Aunt Wendy found a little inch worm and showed the kids.  They thought it was super cool and had fun taking turns holding the little guy.
When it got all dark we took the kids back to the cottages and put them to bed.  I, of course, went to DQ with the siblings, and my parents.  Always a good time at the DQ.

Oregon 2018 - Day 7: Lunch at Lucas Lodge & Ice Cream

Lunch was super yummy per usual.  We all ate our fill and then took family pictures around the property.
On our way back from Gold Beach we had to stop for ice cream at the cheese factory in Bandon.  They have really good ice cream and it is very inexpensive.  We even met up with the rest of my family there.  We spent more time at the gift shop then the others so they were almost done by the time we got there.  It was very good.

Oregon 2018 - Day 7: Riding the Rogue on the Jet Boats

Awe, the Rogue.  It's one of our favorite things to do.  This boat ride is so much fun and we enjoy doing it as much as we can.
We got to Gold Beach with plenty of time to use the restroom and do a little shopping.  I finally got me an Oregon Coast rain coat.  I decided not to buy a pink coat but I decided to get a purple one that is warmer.  I did get Megan her own pink rain jacket.  We asked Allie if she wanted one, but she did not.  So I guess that saved us some money.
It was nice and cool on our ride to Lucas Lodge.  We all snuggled in under our blankets and enjoyed the ride and all the birds that we saw.  Still didn't see any bears, but maybe one year we will.
The weather was perfect on the way back from lunch.  Megan and Tyler especially loved sitting on the edge of the boat to feel the water splashing.  They got soaked and loved every minute of it.
Allie snuggled up with her Aunt Wendy and Uncle Gabe on the ride back.  It was adorable.  She picked the right aunt to buddy up to.  We all had a great time on the Rogue!
