Weekend fun

Tyler got in the fridge today and took out the block of cheese and started taking bites out of it. I tried to tell him that I would cut him off a piece, but he would have nothing to do with that. So I decided to take a picture of him and his cheese. He is so funny!

Today Tony switched the car seats for the boys. We could barely get Josh out of the infant seat, so we knew it was time to switch him to Tyler's old car seat. He is still facing backwards, of course, but he looks like such a big guy in that car seat. Tyler likes sitting in just a booster seat and it makes him feel like a big boy. Lets hope that Tyler continues to like his seat and stays in the seat belt like he should.

Last night Tyler got to have a sleepover at Grandma Margie's house with his cousins and he had such a great time. Then she took all of us out to see the new Shrek movie. It was pretty good. Tyler did really good during the movie, but Josh got fussy about half way through. Lucky for us Uncle Derek took care of Josh and had him some bonding time with Josh in the hall. What a good uncle he is!

Sick again...is that another tooth?

Josh is sick again. He got a cold earlier this week and it, again, went straight to his lungs. He has been coughing (more like hacking) a lot. Some times so hard that he ends up throwing up his food. It is pretty sad. Today we noticed that Josh was pulling at his ear and whining, so I decided to take him to see his doctor.

It seems like I have been seeing her every two to three weeks these days.

She said that he does have an ear infection. So sad. She we started him on his antibiotics tonight and I hope that they kick in soon so that he isn't in pain for too long. He is such a strong and amazing kid, I know that he will be fine soon.

I noticed today that he has another tooth that has come through. Not his two front teeth, not even the next two bottom teeth. It is the tooth that would be next to the front tooth on the left side. Tyler got those two teeth before his front teeth too. Funny stuff. It isn't all the way out yet and Josh doesn't like me to feel it. The poor kid has had a tough week. Even through all this, he still has been a pretty happy kid.

Tyler is still happy as can be. I am hoping that he doesn't get Josh's cold. Tyler makes it hard when he likes to share Josh's baby food with him and he takes Josh's water all day too. He is such a funny kid. We sure are lucky parents to have such great boys!

Out of the mouths of babes

Tyler said his first prayer all by himself (okay, mostly by himself) tonight. He has only said a few prayers with assistance from Tony or I in the past. Tonight when we sat down for dinner he just started saying it by himself after I asked him to say the prayer. It was so cute. Short and sweet. I was beginning to wonder if he would ever want to start saying the prayer, so I was very pleased tonight. It is so much fun to see what he is learning. Kids really are like a sponge.

It snowed today. It is almost June and it is still snowing. It is just crazy. It rained a lot today as well. The good thing is that all this moisture is really good for our lawns and water totals. That is what I keep telling my self on these types of days when we can't go outside and play.

Josh is getting to the point where he is ready to get out of the house in the afternoons. Total cabin fever. He loves being outside. He enjoys stroller rides or even going shopping. He just like being out and about. Someday we will be able to play outside more, of course then it will start to be way too hot and we will have to come inside to get cool...you have got to love Utah weather.

Blessings

I am so blessed! I have a great job, that I love, that allows me to work from home (use that degree I worked so hard for) and be a full-time mom, which is really important to me.

What a blessing!

Tony has a good job that has good insurance that provides our family with stability and peace of mind.

What a blessing!

I have some friends who have lost their jobs and it has been really hard on them and their family. I take for granted how blessed and lucky we are that Tony and I have both have jobs that are so good for our family. I know that I complain about Tony's work schedule, but really I am just glad that he has a job. We are truly blessed!

I have two great boys, a great husband, and great extended family! I have a cute little house that we have worked so hard on fixing up, and we are about to pay off our car loan in a couple months. Things are good. We're healthy and happy...what could be better!

2nd Annual DFCU 5k

This evening my work had it's annual 5k run/walk. I had a lot of fun doing it. I almost talked my self out of going, but I was glad that I did it. I was suppose to go last year, but I ended up missing it for some reason. The 5k started at 6:00, but they let the walkers start early. I was, of course, a walker so I started walking about 5:40ish. I walked with my friend Elayna from work. It made the time go by a lot faster walking and talking with a friend. It took my about an hour. So not terrible, but definitely have room for improvement for next year.

Teagan, my little sister, came and watch my boys for me while I did the 5k. When I got back Tyler had fallen asleep on the floor. She said that he fell asleep at like 6:00. That is over an hour earlier then he normally goes to sleep, so I sure hope that he stays asleep tonight and that he doesn't wake up at like 5:00 in the morning. I guess we will see what happens.

I'm not winning any Super Mom awards

So this evening I let my impatience get the better of me. Tony works nights again this week and so it was just me tonight with the boys. I was holding Josh in my arms while trying to water the sod that we put in a couple weekends ago. Tyler was NOT listening to me...story of my life these days. I got frustrated and pulled the hose off the lawn towards the house. Well I pulled a little too hard and the nozzle broke the window that goes to our laundry room. Ah man, that sucks. So then I go down stairs to check out the damage and I put Josh down on the edge of the carpet in the laundry room (thinking that there was no way that the broken glass got all the way to the edge of the carpet) to start picking up the big pieces of glass.

Well with one quick roll over he got a cut on the heal of his foot. He really didn't cry, he just fussed a little bit. I didn't even notice it until I got upstairs to change him into his jammies and saw the blood on the changing table...I'm a terrible mother. But even with pressure on his foot, he didn't cry. He actually laughed because it tickled his foot. So that makes me feel better that he isn't hurting.

I told Josh that I was so sorry that he got cut and then Tyler told me he was sorry too. I then told Tyler that I was sorry for loosing my patience. Tyler has this new thing where he asks me things three times repeatedly or makes me repeat my self three or four times. It drives me nuts. I don't know if I just don't talk loud enough or he just doesn't listen, but either way...I hope all this repeating doesn't last too much longer.

What to say?

It is one of those nights that I just don't have much to say. I added a random picture of Tony and I when we were doing our engagement pictures. It isn't the one we used, but I think that it is nice...when we were much younger...and thinner. I definitely think that Tony just gets better looking as he gets older. How did I luck out?

It was a good day today. Both the boys seem to be doing a little better today. We got some work done in our back yard. We finally moved Tyler's club house to the new play area we built. We still need to buy some more rubber stuff to put on the ground, but it is looking really good. We got the sod in on Saturday, so I hope that it grows well and it looks good. Not much looks worse then sod that doesn't grow.

This afternoon the boys and me went over to my sister's (Julie) house. We played there for a little while but then we decided to take the kids over to Artic Circle to let the kids play and to eat some dinner. The kids had a really good time and it was nice to talk with Julie. My friend is the manager at the Artic Circle that we went to, so we chatted with her for a long time too. After dinner, we parted our ways and went home.

Once I got 2home I bathed the boys and put on jammies, gave Josh a bottle, and then put him to bed. About a hour after that I put Tyler to bed. I sure hope that they sleep well tonight. Tyler woke up at midnight with wet jammies, so I changed him and he had a really hard time going back to sleep. It took him about four hours to actually get all the way back to sleep. Tony and I took turns holding him in the rocking chair. After he finally got back to sleep he slept in until almost eleven o'clock. That is the longest he has ever slept in. He really needed it and I was glad that he got it. Josh woke up with Tyler at midnight (Tyler yelling "I'm wet" might have done that) and then again at about 6:15ish. I got him and held him in the rocking chair and he fell back to sleep in my arms for about another hour. All this and Tony didn't even get home from work until after one in the morning.

So what have I learned from all of this...don't let Tyler drink anything after dinner. It all started with that stupid diaper leaking, so yeah...lesson learned.

It is suppose to be nice weather this weekend. I am so glad. I really just can't wait until Friday comes so that I can spend more time with Tony. It always feels like I hardly ever see him when he works the afternoon/night shift. One more day and then I get him for three days...then it starts all over again. Good times.

It's been a rough one

Today hasn't been one of my best days. It was a hard night. Josh and Tyler both have colds and woke up coughing and then crying a lot. Tony ended up sleeping with Josh in the rocking chair, which made for a long night for him too. Lets just say we both "woke up on the wrong side of the bed." Sometimes I feel like we just do not communicate very well. I also feel like when we talk about needed change, it is always me that has to do the changing. It's frustrating.

Josh's breathing sounded so bad this morning so I decided that we needed to take him to see the doctor. We had to take Tyler in to have his stitches checked, so it all worked out. The doctor said that Tyler's stitches looked good and Tyler was such a big boy when she checked them. Josh's oxygen was good and she said that his lungs sounded good as well. So she put him on a daily inhaler of a lung steroid to help his lungs. It is suppose to help him so that he doesn't wheeze so much when he gets colds. I have to do it every day for a couple months, but she said that maybe I won't have to during the summer. It just depends on if he continues to get more colds. She also said that he would probably grow out of it and there is a good chance that he wont have asthma when he older. Poor little guy. He has lung problems (darn RSV) and a sensitive tummy. He is such a trouper.

Both Tyler and Josh took good naps today, so that is really good. I hope that they sleep well tonight. Tony works nights this week (and next week too), so he wont be home until around midnight. I know that we all could use some good sleep, but with all the coughing...it will probably be a long night...again.

My Boys

This picture is from a walk that we all went on a couple of weeks ago and I really like it. I like that you can see Josh's two little teeth and that Tyler is smiling so nicely too. My boys really are just too darn cute! I am a lucky mom.

Tyler is doing lots better today. His face is looking a lot better. His lip is still swollen, but looks tons better. He said that it doesn't hurt...but he could have just been saying that so that I wouldn't try to give him medicine...funny kid. He seems to be able to eat and drink whatever he wants, so that is really good too. It is hard to understand what he is saying with his fat lip, but we have a good time trying to make guesses. He is such a great kid!

Josh is doing really good too these days. He is generally happy as can be. He has been having a hard time with eating baby food. It seems like he either has a hard time pooping, or poops too much. Either too hard, or he is having blow outs. That is not so much fun. I hope that we can get this all figured out soon. He has such a sensitive tummy.

Tony is good. He has been working hard in our back yard (when it isn't raining or snowing). We are going to have a little play area and he had to take out a lot of grass to get rid of a root that seems to never go away. It is a lot of work, but it will look great when it is all done. I love that he is such a hard worker and puts up with my high expectations. He is such a great husband and dad, we are all lucky to have him. I am a lucky girl to have three such great fellows in my life. Lucky girl in deed!

I feel like the worst mom EVER!

Today has been a hard day. It was a rough night with Josh waking up crying twice and Tyler having a hard time getting back to sleep when Josh woke him up.

***This always seems to happen the night before I have to go into work***

They both slept in a little bit and then we all got up, got dressed, ate breakfast, and then headed out to go to Grandma Kim's house. I got Tyler out of the car first and he went to the fence to say Hi to Toby (the dog). Then I went around the car to get Josh (in his car seat) out. That car seat is pretty heavy so I get my strength up to pull the seat out. I looked up and noticed that Tyler wasn't by the fence. I figured that he went on the porch.

BOY WAS I WRONG!!!

He was right behind me. I lifted Josh in his car seat out of the car and tried to step backwards, and there was Tyler. I went back and fell right on top of him. We were in the driveway so I crushed his face into the cement with my HUGE body. My poor poor little guy.

I couldn't believe what just happened.

I grabbed Tyler and ran into my mom's house and told her to go and get Josh, who I left outside. I took Tyler to the kitchen to clean him up. At first I just thought that he just had some road rash on his face. But when I started cleaning him up I noticed that he had a big gash in his lower lip that went all the way through. There was a lot of blood and Tyler was really crying. I told my mom that I had to take him the the ER.

I left Josh with her and headed over to the IMC. Luckily my parents live right across the street from the hospital, so we got there quickly. I ran him into the ER (I was crying like a big baby) and got him signed in. I asked them if it was normal for the mom to cry more then the kid -- I guess that it is.

They took us back and took some of Tyler's vitals and then got us a room. I had to change him into a little gown and then we waited...and waited...a nurse came to see what he looked like...then we waited...and waited...the doctor came and said he needed stitches..the we waited...and waited...then the nurse came with supplies...then we waited some more...then the doctor came and it was go time. During all the waiting Tyler fell asleep in my arms for a little while and then Tony decided to come from work to be with us.

I was really glad that Tony was there for the putting in of the stitches. Tyler was pretty calm, until anyone wanted to look at his lip. They put him in this thing with straps that makes it so that he can't kick, wiggle, or really move much. Then it was time to clean his face and give him shots to numb his face.

THAT WAS THE WORST!!! I sat back and cried while they did that. It was so hard to hear him cry out in pain. The thought that I caused Tyler to be in that much pain was just too much for me. It broke my heart. What kind of mom does that to her kid? I know it was an accident, but I still felt and feel SO bad.

He had a hard time while the doctor put in the stitches. His lip was still bleeding a lot. With each new stitch it bleed more. He got 7 stitches and then we were able to take Tyler out of his bondage. He then just wanted to cuddle. While the doctor was telling us what to do with his cut, I started feeling really sick. I thought that I might throw up and then I was getting dizzy. I ended up having to lay on the bed for a while. It took a while, but I did start to feel better. We dressed Tyler and then got ready to go back to grandma's to get Josh. As soon as we got there Tyler wanted to go and play in the back yard. He really wanted to ride the 4-wheelers, but we decided to do that another day. He played a little, but then we all headed home.

His face is pretty scraped up and his lip is still really swollen, but he is in high spirits. He is still being silly and climbing everything, just like normal. That is the only thing that is making me feel a little better about this whole thing. I am still way depressed that it happened. The saddest part (besides my falling on my child) is that he doesn't even have a cool story to tell about how he got hurt. My big fat mom fell on me...that is not cool!

He is a fighter and will be better in no time...now it is time for me to get over my issues with the situation. I asked him this afternoon about what happened and he didn't even say that I fell on him, so that is good. He said that he fell on the sidewalk at grandma's. Let's hope that is the story that he remembers!
