Oregon 2015 - Day 3: Part 2

After lunch we went back to our cabin to hang out for a while.  My siblings decided to go to Walmart to pick up kites to fly at Cape Argo, which is just up the road from where we were staying.  After a while we decided to go meet up with them and see how their kite flying was going.
We drove to the place and they were not there so we decided to go exploring our selves.  We went to a neat look out point where you can see the ocean.  That is we could have seen the ocean had it not been such a foggy day.  Luckily we didn't really mind the fog and thought it was pretty cool.
When we were on top of the look out point we could hear sea lions.  They were so loud but we couldn't see them from where we were.  So we decided to go see if we could find them.
Their was a cool trail that we followed down the mountain until we found where the sea lions were.  You couldn't see them clearly, but you could see the rock where tons of them were hanging out being noisy.  An older couple with binoculars let my kids use them to try and see the sea lions.  I think the binoculars were too hard for them to use and didn't get a good look.  We will have to invest in a pair of our own for next year.  It was a fun little hike and adventure.

After visiting Cape Argo we went back to our cabins to hang out with the others.  Turns out that Walmart's kites were too expensive so my siblings didn't buy them or go to Cape Argo.  Their loss.
After having sandwiches for dinner we all wanted to go to the beach.  The kids changed into their swim suits and we headed down.  I took my chair and camera to watch all the action of the children.
I first started out holding Allie while we watched the others play in the sand.  She was okay with that for a little while before wanting to get down and play.  She wasn't too sure about the sand at first and didn't really want to touch it, but she wanted down enough to deal with it.
She started by just feeling the sand in-between her fingers.  Then she would grab a big handful and that is when she decided that she liked it.  She didn't even really try and eat the sand.  She did try and eat the things she found in the sand, like sea shells.  So I had to keep a very close eye on her.  She ended up getting lots of sand on her face from her slobber and from putting things unto her mouth.  It was pretty fun watching her experience this fun beach.
Megan was all about the sand toys.  She didn't really make anything, but she had a good time playing with all the sand.  She didn't get too wet in the water, but would go and get water for her sand creations.
Now Tyler and Josh were a different story.  They LOVE the water, no matter how cold.  They loved putting their hands in the sand and running through the waves.  They could stay at the beach all day long having a wonderful time.
I ended up going back to the cabin with Allie.  She had gotten herself covered in sand and was in need of a bath.  Josh decided to come back with us too, so they both got baths.  Tyler and Megan also had a bath after they were done at the beach.  It is amazing how much sand they still had on their bodies even after rinsing off with a hose.  The bath tub had a lot of sand in it after all the baths.
We all headed to bed as early as we could this night for tomorrow we wake up early to leave for the Rogue River boat trip.  We are excited about it, should be fun!

Oregon 2015 -Day 3: Part 1

Today we didn't have any major plans, so it was a pretty chill day.  After we all woke up from our very comfortable beds (a very happy surprise) and got dressed, we went to get some breakfast and do some grocery shopping.
We ate at The Kozy Kitchen.  It wasn't too bad.  It seemed kind of pricey, but the food was pretty good.  After eating we went to Walmart to pick up some food for the week.  I was not planning on cooking a lot, so we got some easy breakfast things and stuff for sandwiches.  I figured we would probably eat out for lunch or dinner so we didn't need tons of food.
After we got back the whole family decided to go into Coos Bay and go walk around the Boardwalk.  It isn't super big, but it has some interesting things to look at.  Their is a big boat that you can walk around (not on, but around) to see how they used to do things on the water.  Their are some statues and another old boats on the water to see...okay I guess it wasn't super exciting, but something to do.  The kids liked that they were with their cousins and had fun that way.
They do have a place you can eat there but they were all out of halibut so Tony didn't want to eat their fish and chips.  So we decided to all go to Dairy Queen because it was just around the corner.  It was a little crazy with all of us, but we all had a place to sit and food to eat.

Oregon 2015 - Day 2

We got up and got going pretty early.  We are all on Utah time still so we ate breakfast at the hotel and then got on the road.  We got some gas and then drove with the Sutherland's from Pendelton to Coos Bay.  It was kind of fun driving together with them.
The Sutherland's wanted to see the waterfalls on the way through the Portland area so we stopped at a few.  With it being Sunday they were all really busy with people everywhere, so we didn't go to all of them.
We got to our cabins in an RV park at about 5:30.  It was a long day of driving.  Allie was really starting to get fussy by the end of the drive so I told Tyler he could give Allie some Oreo cookies.  She really liked eating those cookies and made a huge mess of her self.  It was totally worth it to have her happy.
The cabins are so nice.  Each family has their own cabin so no one has to share.  Sherri is staying in my parents cabin with Teagan, but besides that it is all by family.  The cabins have two queen beds and a couch.  We found a perfect spot for Allie's pack-n-play.  The kitchen and bathroom are both really nice too.  The kids sleep in the loft and we have the bedroom.  The cabins are only like one year old, so still really nice.
Betsy got some food ready for us to all have dinner together tonight and that was super fun.  We all got our chairs out and sat around the cabins in a grassy area and ate our dinner.  We even had a fire pit at each cabin area.
After dinner the kids loved running around playing with all their cousins.  The weather was nice and cool and it was so nice to get out the jackets and enjoy the cooler weather.
I really thought that we would have lots of bugs being in the forest and being so close to the water, but we really didn't have to deal with bugs at all.  I didn't even have to get out the bug spray, so that was a very pleasant surprise.

While the sun was starting to set a few of us decided to walk down to the beach.  I couldn't believe how close the water is to where we are staying.  The cabins are at the front of the RV park, so we just have to walk threw the RV parking and there is the beach and the ocean.  It takes maybe 5 minutes to walk there.
The sand was so cool on our feet, I loved it.  I didn't feel the water since I knew it would be freezing, but the sand felt oh so good.
The boys love the beach and I know we are all going to have a great week in our cute little cabins that are amazingly close to this awesome beach.  Papa G is really spoiling us here in Oregon!

Oregon 2015 - Day 1

This has been one crazy day.  Green beans are currently still in process, so in order for Tony to have been able to leave today he switched shifts with one of the part time guys and ended up working like 17 hours straight.
Because of Tony's work schedule we decided that the kids and I would pick him up at his work in Ogden and he would just leave his car there.
This left me to packing up the car and doing everything to get ready for our trip.  Thankfully Margie helped watch the kids so that I could do most of the packing the night before.
After we got Tony we picked up some breakfast before heading out on the open road.  Tony was able to sleep for a few hours while I drove us threw Idaho.  I had hoped he'd sleep longer, but he got what he could.
We stopped outside of Boise for some lunch.  We were hoping for a place with a play place, but we didn't find one.  After lunch we drove the rest of the way to Pendelton where we were spending the night.
We checked into our hotel and got our room.  It was pretty nice.  The room had two king sized beds and a pull out bed.  The beds were in two different rooms and it was pretty big.  Perfect for our family.
We then went swimming.  Julie and her family had already checked into their room and met us down at the pool.  After swimming for a long time we went and changed before heading down in the lobby for dinner with the Sutherland's.  The hotel had soup and salads so we just ate there.  After dinner we went and found a park for the kids to play at.  It was a pretty lame park, but the kids got to play and we got to hangout.  After the park we went back to the hotel for bed time.  We were all ready for a good night sleep, especially Tony.

Little Stinkers

Last night I went to check on the kids before going to bed and I found all three of them in the same bed.  They all had some trouble falling asleep that night and kept coming out of the room to tell me that they weren't tired.  I just sent them back in and then they ended up all together.  Why did I bother buying beds for each of them?  Silly kids.

We Love Green Beans

Earlier today we went to Tony's work to see all the cool green bean equipment in action.  Tony has been working the late shift this year so we thought we'd go before his shift started so he could show us all the machines without having to worry about fixing problems.
We got some lunch before we went to the cannery.  Then when we got there Tony changed into his work clothes and we got our hair nets on before heading out onto the production floor.
We first checked out the trailer with all the beans from the field.  Then we just followed the beans after that.  We got to see them get weeded, washed, trimmed at the ends, chopped to the correct size, put into the cans, then the tops were put on cans, then they were cooked and finally labeled.  It is so much fun to see the raw product and watch it get canned.
The kids like seeing all the machines and finding out what they do.  After our tour we got to sit in with the missionaries and workers for their prayer meeting before their shift started.  It is so nice that Tony works for the church and is in such a good environment.  We love visiting Tony at work and it made for a fun outing.

Annual Ward Swim Party

Allie and Tony checking out the water at our wards annual swim party.  It was a little chilly to start off, but it quickly warmed up.  It took Allie a little while to decide she liked it.  She loves the water, but not cool water.
Josh was so happy to be at the pool.  He loves it!
Grandma Margie and Megan.  Megan only wanted Grandma all night long, not mommy or daddy.  We are so lucky to have such an awesome grandma!
Tony and Allie coming to the deeper end of the pool.
Tyler enjoy the pool and being silly.
Tony coming down the slide with Allie.  She didn't seem to mind the slide but didn't totally love it.  She did enjoy going to the shallow end of the pool where she could sit, splash and play around.
Tyler and Josh loved going down the slide.  Tyler went down a bunch but Josh went down pretty much non stop.  He did try to go off the diving board once, but then chickened out when he got to the end of the board.  He really loved that slide and loved going down over and over with the big kids.

Cub Country

Tyler got to go to his first Cub Country as a Wolf on Tuesday and Wednesday.  He had a really good time.  He was able to shoot a PP gun, use a bow and arrow, and make crafts like a necklace and a otter pop holder.  He also got $5 to spend however he wanted to for two days at the trading post.  I can't believe he's big enough to be going to boy scout camps.

Pioneer Day

Megan, Tyler, Averee, and Josh sitting in Grandma Kim's backyard playing yard games.
My kids love "Pop It's" and had so much fun throwing them all over and being in the street with their cousins.
Julie was very helpful to hold Allie for me while I got all the Pop It's distributed to all the kids and took some pictures.  Tony wasn't there because he was on a plane flying back from Wisconsin on a business trip.
Teagan, Julie, and Allie hanging out waiting for it to get dark enough to do fireworks.  We started a little earlier then usual but I was glad because I wanted to get my kids to bed.

Messy Baby

I gave this cutie a chocolate cookie after she ate her lunch and she thought it was pretty good.  I took this picture after I cleaned her hands and arms.  She looked up at me with this cute smile and messy face and I knew I needed to take a picture.
Allie took two steps on Sunday and has been practicing her balancing and taking small steps.  I can't believe it's already time for walking.  I think ready or not she'll be walking here in a couple weeks.
