Camp Out In The Back Yard

I got Tony a new tent last year for Father's Day because our old one was...well old.  But we never got it out last year and used it so we have been talking about getting it out this summer.
We decided today would be a good day because soccer games are now over, the weather is nice and warm, and we had the time.
We decided not to tell the boys about it and make it a surprise.  After swim lessons I took the boys to the church where they were having a fun movie night for the primary kids.  They took blankets and pillows and watched a movie in the culture hall on a big projector.  They had popcorn, soda, and treats for all the kids to enjoy while they watched the movie.  They had a good time.
While the boys were at the church watching the movie I went back home to help Tony put up the tent.  It went up pretty fast and Megan LOVED helping us put up the tent.  It was nice and easy to put up and it is really roomy inside.  We like the nice big tents.
After the tent was all up we got out the air mattresses and blew them up.  I am happy to say that they still look great and don't have any holes (at least they didn't when they went to bed tonight).
After everything was all set up, Megan and I went and picked up the boys at the church.  The movie wasn't quite over so we hung out in the hall until it was over.  I told the boys I had a surprise for them at home and they were so excited to see what it was.  Tyler thought it might be a pool, he was wrong.
They were very happy to see the tent and they had a great time playing in and out of the tent before bedtime.  We let them stay up late until it was getting dark and I think they were happy to go to sleep.
I hope that they all sleep good outside and that no one will need to come inside at any point.  I would have slept outside if I didn't have to pee a million times a night.  So I get the house to myself tonight.  Let's hope everyone gets a good night sleep tonight.

Swimming Pool Fun

A friend from my ward and neighborhood, Bronny, inviting us to go swimming at her in-laws house.  I really love going swimming and being in the pool so I was really glad that the kids were feeling better so we could go.  We all got ready and  headed over there today after Megan woke up from her nap.
Another family from our ward came, the Overdiek's, joined the fun and we had a really good time.  They have three older kids who helped out with the little ones, so that was really nice...and it was fun chatting with them.  The house isn't too far from where we live so that made it nice.
Tony met us there after work and swam for a little while, but the kids (mainly Megan) were pretty much done about 10 minutes after he came.
So we sat in the hot tub for a couple minutes before we started drying off to head home.  I had some crackers in my diaper bag that Megan started gobbling down, so I guess the poor thing was mainly hungry.
Megan liked riding in her boat, being held, and jumping into the pool...oh and being thrown up into the air.  Josh liked jumping into the pool and did really good with the water wings and the tube around his waist.  Tyler liked jumping into the pool as well and he would go back and forth from the water wings to just the tube and did really well.
It was nice being able to enjoy the water without having to worry too much because Tyler and Josh have learned to play in the water nicely with the help of the blow up toys.  It was a nice break from our everyday activities.  I love pools.

Morning Snuggles

Tyler and Megan have not felt very good this week.  They had little red dots on the top of their mouths that hurt them.  I took them to see the doctor and they said it wasn't strep but just a virus that they had to wait out.
That made for some long days at our house.  Tyler was pretty good with it and just let me know when it hurt and then he got more medicine.  Megan however whined a lot saying her mouth hurt over and over.  I gave her as much medicine as I could, but that girl was asking for it every hour or so.  I felt really bad because their was nothing that I could do for her to make it better.  I just made sure they both had plenty to drink so they didn't get dehydrated.
A couple mornings ago after the kids woke up they wanted to watch shows in my bed.  I thought it as super sweet how they snuggled right in and had a relaxing morning.  Luckily they are both doing much better and I sure hope we don't have any more sickness in this house for a long time.

Last Day of 1st Grade

Tyler is officially not a first grader anymore.  I can't believe how big he has become.  He has learned so much in first grade and he is really excited for what is to come next year.  I am so lucky to by Tyler's mom.  He is such an awesome kid.

Josh's Last Day of Preschool

Today was Josh's last day of preschool.  They had a little party for the last day and had some games for all the kids to play.
They asked parents to stay and play with the kids and they welcomed other kids as well.  So Megan had a great time playing the games and playing with the kids.
They had snacks and drinks for all the kids and then when the kids were ready to go the preschooler received a goody bag to take home.  Josh and Megan also got an otter pop to eat.  It was low key and not too many kids were there so the kids had a good time.
They had a pretend cow that had a glove filled with water that they kids then got to "milk" the cow.  The teacher would poke a hole in the glove and then the kids would squeeze the glove like they were "milking" a cow.  Josh got to be the first one to try it and then Megan joined in the fun.  They both liked it.  I think it is better then milking a real cow.
They also had a small play house that the kids could go in and out of.  It had windows at the top that the kids could poke their heads through.  Josh and Megan both liked this.  It was kind of like a tent, who doesn't like playing in a tent?  Good times.

They also had a bubble blowing machine.  It was fun when only a couple kids were by it, but when lots of kids stood really close to it then it was hard for the bubbles to blow out and harder for the kids to play in the bubbles.  But it was still pretty fun.

There was also a small parachute pull blanket thing that you put balls on and then kids stand around it and make the balls fly.  Josh wanted to do this when it was just us and so it made it hard to keep the balls on the parachute, but it was still pretty fun.
There was also a big chicken with cut out holes for kids to throw bean bags into the holes.  The kids liked this too, but they all wanted to stand way too close to the chicken.  So we made a line to stand behind and that helped.  They only played this for a couple minutes before they moved on to the cow.
Megan colored with some chalk and also played on the play ground before coming and having her drink and snack.  Josh played with some of his classmates and with the games before he had his drink.  He didn't like the snack.
Then Josh picked out his goody bag, gave his teachers a hug and thanked them before we walked home.  It was a nice way to end the school year for Josh.
