More Sickness

As if Josh being sick wasn't fun enough Megan got sick too.  Friday night she spiked a fever and had a really hard nights sleep.  Saturday her fever was still high but we were able to keep it down a little with fever reducing medicine.
We all went to Josh's soccer game on Saturday morning and Megan was just a fussy mess the last half of his game.  Then instead of being able to just go home and put her down for her nap we had to wait around for Josh's team to get their pictures taken.
Once home I did get Megan down and then Tony and Tyler went back to the fields for Tyler's soccer game.  Tyler scored a goal that game.  I was really sad to miss the game, but Megan needed to nap so I had to stay home.
Megan woke up from her nap very unhappy and pretty much stayed that way for the next day and a half.  Oh so fussy.  Her fever was still so high and she just did not feel good. She wasn't eating or drinking hardly anything.  I think that she drank maybe 8 ounces the whole day.  You could tell that her mouth hurt and every time she tried to drink she would cry in pain.  We had our neighbor, Uncle Max, come and check on her to see if we needed to take her in.  We decided that they couldn't do anything for her and we just needed to wait it out.  That night Megan didn't sleep well at all.  She was up every hour just fussing and whining and crying.
Because Megan was sick I called on Saturday and made arrangements for my responsibilities to be taken care of for Sunday so that I could stay home with Megan.  Then since Megan had such a hard time that night none of us ended up going to church...Tony and I were beat.
Sunday was a long day and was filled with more fussing, crying, whining, and Tony and I doing everything possible to please Megan and keep her as happy as possible.  That included going outside in the front yard, back yard, inside...we pretty much tried everything.
That night she slept much better and we could tell that she felt better on Monday.  She still didn't eat or drink like normal, but she did much better.  Each day after that she has been doing better.  She eats normal food and drinks lots of fluids.  She is happy and silly and we couldn't be more happy that she feels better.
Tyler luckily hasn't gotten the high fever/sore mouth sickness but he has had a cough for over a week that just wont go away.  I don't really know what to do for him.  I got him some children's cough medicine that seems to help a little bit, but he still coughs all the time.  I am at a loss for the poor kid.  I keep asking him if his mouth hurts and check him for fevers but so far he's been good.  I hope that it gets better soon and not worse.
It is so hard to see your kids sick, especially the little ones.  I am so glad that they are doing better and am trying to monitor the cup sharing more and using hand sanitizers more.  I hope that this helps us this winter to not get sick so much.  After we all got the flu last winter (except Tony) I want to make sure that we all get our flu shots soon too.  Ah, gotta love winter.

I Hate Bugs

Tuesday morning while doing Megan's hair I notice a bug in her hair.  YUCK.  So I picked it out and saw one more.  I didn't see any eggs or anything else but my first thought was lice.  I then checked Tyler and Josh's hair to make sure they didn't have any signs of bugs...did I already say yuck.  They both looked good so I took them both to school and then Megan and I went to get lice shampoo and cleaners.
I will be honest I was totally freaking out.  I hate bugs and the thought just made me so sick.  I started washing the sheets, pillow cases, blankets, etc while I washed Megan's hair.  You're suppose to put the shampoo on dry hair and then leave it on for 10 minutes and then wash it off.  Then there was some gel that they have you put on the hair to them comb out the bugs and eggs.  I did this on Megan but I didn't get anything out of her hair because I never saw anything besides those two bugs on her.  I did notice like four of the little bugs on the bathroom counter where I did Megan's hair that morning.  So I don't know if they came off the comb when I was combing it or if they were on her shoes or clothes because she was outside right before I did her hair.
After Megan was all washed I then took to totally cleaning the whole house like a total mad woman.  Anything that could be laundered was washed and dry on the highest temperature and highest heat.  I put all the pillows in the dryer on high heat and got out our steam cleaner and steamed all the mattresses and around the beds.
The kit I bought also had a spray so I sprayed the chairs and couches and the mattresses.  I then vacuumed and vacuumed and cleaned and cleaned.  It was madness.  I was so worried about my own head that I asked Margie to come over and check my head.  She didn't see anything on me, YEAH!
After I got Josh from preschool and Tyler from school, I cut their hair really short and shampooed them both just to be safe.  Then when Tony came home from work I did the same to him.  Still didn't see any bugs or signs of bugs on them.  Thank goodness.
Then we had to eat dinner fast and then go to Josh and Tyler's soccer games.  After the games we got the kids to bed and then I continued to do more laundry and then had Tony check me again.  He didn't see anything so I then showered and used the shampoo myself, just to be safe.
Wednesday I finished all the washing and cleaned all the car seats and vacuumed again.  I am not sure if it really was lice or what, but my house is as clean as it can be.  The car is now all cleaned and the car seats back in place.
Yesterday before soccer practice I noticed Josh was feeling warm.  He had a little temperature of 100.6 degrees.  He was still active and wanted to play so I let him go to practice.  We came home half way through Tyler's practice and I took Josh's temperature again and this time it was 101.7.  So I gave him some medicine and he went to bed.  I asked him if anything hurt and he said no, so that is good.  I kept him home from school today.  His temperature has gone down so I hope that he doesn't get worse.  Be it actual bugs or germ bugs I don't like any of them...YUCK!!!

Josh's 2nd Black Eye

Josh said he wanted to have a sad face...so here it is.
Poor Josh.  Just turned 4 yesterday and already he has his second black eye.  I guess when he hit on the mop bucket while cleaning the church he really hit it good.  It started as just a red mark on the side of his eye and then as the day went on it got more red and started to swell a little bit.  Then by the end of the day it was looking a little better.  But this morning when he woke up I noticed that he defiantly has blue under his eye and it was official, another black eye.  I am sure it wont be his last so it's a good thing I have tough kids.

Happy Birthday Josh!

Josh turned 4 today.  I can't believe it.  Four years ago my water broke at 4:00 am and Tony rushed home from work to take me to the hospital.  We dropped off Tyler at Tony's parents house and then off we went to have a baby.  Josh joined us at about 12:30 pm and our lives have never been the same.
Josh was so excited for his birthday to be here.  We went to the boys soccer games in the morning and then picked up some lunch before we headed home.  After we ate Tony put Megan down for her nap while I got ready for the party.  I frosted the cake and cupcakes and then decorated them with m&m's.
Our families got here about 3:00 pm and the kids immediately all went outside to play.  My kids love their cousins and really can not get enough of them.  After chatting for a while I asked Josh if he wanted to play more, eat cake and ice cream, or open presents.  He automatically said open presents.  So we called in all the kids and Josh opened up his presents.  He loved all the things that he received and loved having all the attention on him.
Then it was cake and ice cream time.  The kids played and the adults chatted some more.  It was nice being with family and just relaxing.  The kids had so much fun playing with some of Josh's new toys and the toys down stairs.  I love it when all the kids play so well together.
After the party Margie took us all out to dinner for Josh's birthday dinner.  We went to IHOP and had a good dinner.  After dinner Tony took Megan and Koda for a walk while I bathed the boys and put them to bed.  It has been a great day and I think that Josh had a great birthday.  We love our Joshua so much and feel so lucky that he is in our family.

Let The Soccer Begin

Today Tyler and Josh both had their first soccer game of the season with their new league in Taylorsville.  They had practice on Wednesday over at the Elementary by our house and they both enjoyed the practice.  It was good to meet the teams and the other players.
Tyler was the first one to play today.  He played the goalie for the first half of the game and did pretty good.  He didn't let any balls get into the net.  He seemed to like kicking the ball away from the net instead of picking up the ball.  He likes playing goalie and did good.
Tony is coaching both Tyler and Josh's team this year.  Since Tyler team has older kids this league has the coaches stay on the sideline and they can't go on the field.  So it was a little different for Tony to stay on the sideline and try and help from afar.  He is going to have to try and get the kids to learn offense and defense so that they play a little better and they don't all just clump together following the ball.
Tony can go on the field with Josh's team and actually had to coach his team and help coach the other team that we played today because their coach wasn't there.  The little kids are so funny to watch.  Half of them are all kicking at the ball at the same time and the other half are off doing their own thing like looking at the flowers, running in circles, etc.
Josh played pretty good.  He hurt the side of his eye while helping clean the church this morning and he kept re-hurting it from the other children getting physical.  The temperature dropped quite a bit as we waited for Josh's game to start as a storm was coming in.  I think that made it harder for the kids to play and learn the rules.  I hope that the weather is better on Tuesday and that the kids all play a little better.  Welcome soccer season...be good to us!

Our Life

Megan woke up about 5:45 am and then after a bottle fell back asleep but then I was wide awake and couldn't get back to sleep...so here I am.  Nothing super exciting going on at our house currently.  Tyler and Josh have now woken up and are watching a show before I get them some breakfast and then get them ready to take Tyler to school.
Tyler is still really liking school.  He likes his teacher and seems to have lots of friends.  He had school lunch for the first time last week and he really liked it.  He liked that he got to eat lettuce and fruit with his lunch.  Lucky for Tony and I, Tyler is a great eater and likes his fruits and veggies.  He is very excited to start soccer this week.
Tony is going to coach Tyler and Josh's soccer teams.  We are going through a different program then we usually go through and they really needed coaches so they said they would work it out so that Tyler and Josh don't have games at the same time so Tony could coach both.  It will be a busy four weeks of soccer, but it should be fun.  Games start Saturday.
Josh is excited for soccer too.  I hope that he participates without problems this season.  I think having Tony as his coach will help...or make things worse.  Josh liked going to preschool last week.  I think that he will continue to do great this year and I am excited to see how much he learns.  His speech gets better all the time and it seems like more people can understand him.
Megan is still super fussy.  I am not sure what it going on...stupid molars.  I think her problems are still just from her teeth but I really don't know.  Her teeth seem to grow in very slowly and it seems to hurt her a lot.  I am so done with the fussiness.  Her teeth just need to all come in already. The sad part is she still has four more molars to come in...the very thought gives me a headache.
Actually I have had a headache that has come and gone for about a month now.  I think that I am having sinus problems.  I don't think that I have a sinus infection but definitely sinus problems.  Mostly a sinus headache that comes on and hurts super bad and last a long time.  There are other sinus problems too that are making me not feel well.  I need this to get better soon.  Between Megan's fussiness and not sleeping well and me not feeling well, it makes for long days...and nights.
Tony is producing chicken noodle soup now at work.  They had some problems with the new machines at the first, but things are running well now.  He's still waiting to go and do the rest of his training to become the assistant manager.  He just doesn't have the time to leave his work to go do the training at other locations...it really sucks.  I know that we just need to be patient and it will happen.  It's amazing how much of life is about being patient...something that I am always working on.

Josh's First Day of Preschool

Josh had his first day of preschool this morning.  It wasn't a regular class day but more of an introduction to preschool.  Josh put up his back pack and then did a scavenger hunt of the different areas of his classroom.  Megan and I stayed with him and got to see all the fun things that they will do in his class.
It looks like they will do lots of fun things and that Josh will learn a lot this year.  He already knows two boys in his class from church, so that's super fun.  He got done about 10:15 today but he will normally get out about noon.  I was glad that we didn't have to stay any longer because Megan was tired and ready to go down for her nap.
I am excited for Josh to have all these new experiences and for Megan and I to have some fun girl time just the two of us.

Tyler Got Into Trouble

I can't believe it...not even one week of school went by and Tyler got a note yesterday that was sent home from the school saying he was in trouble.  The note said that Tyler and another student were wrestling and a teacher had to pull them apart.  Because of this Tyler and the other student loss all recesses for today.
Tony and I asked Tyler about it and he said that they were just play wrestling and he didn't know that was against the rules.  I did email his teacher for more details and she said it happened during the "walking recess," where they were suppose to be walking (not playing - it's so lame) and another teacher found them and wasn't sure if they were just playing or not.
I told her that I thought it was pretty harsh to send home a note and make the kids loose recess over something that just happened once...she didn't respond to that.  It seemed super extreme for these poor little first graders the first week of school...but what do I know?
Not going to recess today didn't seem to traumatize Tyler and he now knows not to play fight or wrestle at school.  He does seem to like school and he likes his teacher.  So I am happy that he is happy.  Next week preschool starts for Josh two days a week...so excited.

Tyler's First Day of 1st Grade

Tyler is officially a first grader.  He was really excited to go to school this morning and super excited to take his own lunch in his new lunch box.  When I was taking Tyler's picture before we left for school this morning Megan really wanted to get in the picture too.  Josh was still sleeping (surprisingly) when I was taking pictures and ended up having to wake him up before we left to walk Tyler to school.
We went and picked him up after school and he came out looking very happy.  He said that he had a great day and that he really liked his teacher.  He liked having three recesses and eating lunch at school.  He got to sit by a boy from his kindergarten class last year, so he was happy about that.
Tyler wanted to wait until Tony came home and then he told us both all about his day.  He remembered a lot about the day and seemed happy with his class.  This should be a good year and I think that Tyler is going to learn a lot.

And Then We Came Home

After all the excitement from the water falls we headed back toward Portland to get some dinner.  Derek (Tony's youngest brother) was flying in that night to spend the weekend with Nate and Amy so we wanted to be close to the airport so they could pick him up.
Dinner was nuts.  The service was bad and the water and food took forever to come...it was just nuts.  So after the crazy dinner (which Tony was able to get them to take 50% off the bill because it was so bad) we said our good-bye to Nate, Amy, Matt, and Lydia and headed to our hotel.
It was too late for swimming so we just got ready for bed.  It took the kids some time to get to sleep, but they finally did.  Then it was breakfast, packing, and checking out.  We then drove to Boise (Meridian).  The drive wasn't too bad.  It is always sad to loose that hour you gain on the way there, but we survived.
After checking in we went and got some dinner.  Then it was time to go swimming one more time before our trip ended.  This pool was really cold, but we still got in and had a great time.  After showers and jammies we all had a good nights sleep,
After breakfast and one last check-out we headed home...oh wait...we headed to church.  We found the closest church and went to sacrament.  Then after church we went home.  The drive wasn't bad.  We saw a lot of farms.  The weather was nice and hot.  Once we got around Ogden Josh said he wanted to go to Disneyland now.  He wanted to stay in more hotels (he likes hotels).  It was so funny that after being gone for over a week and being in six different hotels he still wanted more.  Josh loves to be on vacation.  Overall it was a great trip.
Now we are all unpacked.  All rested up and ready to get back into our routine.  Tyler starts first grade tomorrow.  It is crazy that he will be gone all day long.  I will miss him so much, but I look forward to having some more time with Josh and Megan.  Josh will start preschool after Labor Day.  It is crazy watching your babies grow big.
