I went into work this morning and attended our quarterly meeting where they announced that they were going to lay off 10% of their employees. I started to panic right away. I worked in a department that wasn't part of the main stream of the credit union. We did a lot of reporting, and comparing us to other financial institutions, and making sure that accounts were opened correctly, etc. So everyone in my department, except one, was let go. I had worked for Deseret First for 5 years. They were and are a good company to work for and I am really grateful that they let me work from home for the past 3 years so that I could be a full time mom.
It REALLY sucks loosing my job and it is going to be really hard now, but I know that Tony and I will make it and be fine. I think that, for now, I am going to just stay home and we will be really poor. I know that I can't find another job like I had and I really don't want to go back to a branch.
Right now we have many blessings that will get us through. I really didn't think that they were going to lay people off, but I guess they had to do it. I am just so sad about the things that my family will have to give up on now that I don't have the extra money coming in. I guess I needed to learn humility and that is what I am learning. But I have to admit...I am really bummed out right now.

Pee, Poop, and Throw up - Oh My
Tyler showed much progress today. He slept the whole night without an accident. He is still struggling with releasing on the potty. When he feels he has to go then he runs to the potty and then sits and does nothing until he really has to go and almost pees his pants (or pees on the floor right by the potty). But he did get out of the bath tub to go pee, so I thought that was really good. He is doing just a little better each day.
Today I thought it looked like he was trying to poop, so I watched really close. Then I saw that he was actually going poop in his pants, I picked him up and put him on the potty to finish. He did and it was very exciting. I got him a sucker (which he only gets for pooping on the potty) and we called Grandma to let her know. He likes to call both of his grandma's...a lot.
Josh had his 9 month well-child visit today. The doctor said that he looks really good. No shots today, which I was very happy for. Here are his stats:
Weight: 21 lbs (60%)
Height: 29 In (76%)
Head Circumference: 44 3/4 Cent (35%)
Josh got his other front tooth last night and it was a really hard night for him. He had a hard time sleeping and Tony ended up sleeping with him in the rocking chair most of the night. After dinner he started getting really fussy and then threw up most of his dinner on me. He seemed to feel better after that. Then in the bath tub he started grunting like he might poop - and then he pooped right in my hand. ISN'T IT GREAT TO BE A MOM! So then I had to drain the water and refill and rewash the boys. They both were really tired and went to bed early. I just hope that they both sleep well tonight, they really need it.
We got a new garage door today. It broke yesterday and Tony's uncle Paul helped us to get a new one quickly. They did a great job. It looks really good and the guy who installed it was really nice. Even though we must of totally bothered him by hanging out and watching him do his work. Tyler loves that kind of stuff. Tony and Tyler ran through the neighbors sprinklers today and it was so much fun to watch. He is such a great dad and Tyler is such a great kid...and since I am bragging, Josh is such a great baby. I am one lucky lady!

Day #4 - Potty Training continues
First of all this was suppose to be a 3 day process...Darn "3 Day Potty Training!" It was magically just suppose to click for Tyler on the 3rd day. Well that didn't happen. Maybe I did something wrong, or didn't follow it exactly like she said, but he is still far from potty trained.
He had one accident last night (this morning really about 5:30). Then he went once in the potty before church and then Tony and Tyler went early to church and Tyler pooped his pants right before church started. So Tony brought him back and changed him and by that time Josh had woken up from his nap so we all packed up in the car and headed to church. But we didn't even get out of our drive way when the garage door wouldn't close. Tony tried to fix it, but it was a goner. It was pretty old, but we weren't planning on having to replace it anytime soon, so that kind of sucks.
Tyler did good at church with no accidents or even having to go to the bathroom. We went to my parents for Father's Day dinner and Tyler was too busy playing to tell us in time and ended up peeing all over him self. I guess I should have been watching him better.
I will be honest, I am getting frustrated. I am having doubts about this method that I have chosen. There are many things that I like about this method, but it just hasn't clicked yet with Tyler. People have warned me that potty training is hard, and they were not lying. I just need to be patient.

Day #3 - Potty Training
Well today was a little better. We definitely have gone through a lot less underwear today then we did on the first day of potty training. To be honest, I wish that it would have gone better today. I have heard that potty training is hard, but I was some what hoping that it would just magically click with Tyler and it would be easy. That was crazy thinking.
Josh has been really good through all of this. He got a couple new teeth last week and I think that his other front tooth is coming now and that has been hard on him. He has been good dealing with all the attention that Tyler is getting right now. His time will come soon enough.
He did great during the night last night. He still pooped in the underwear today, I guess we will still have to work on that one. He didn't have any major accidents where he just peeped his pants, so that is good. The last time that he really went to the potty tonight he told me he had to go, while walking to the bathroom, and didn't leak at all in his underwear...that was a big deal. First time that he told me he had to go -- he had yet to do that at all during this whole process. Then he didn't leak any pee, this seems to be a hard one for him. He likes to hold it all in as long as he can and then he slowly leaks out but doesn't want to sit on the potty and pee. That is frustrating.
While I was shopping at Walmart today I got Tyler a Buzz Lightyear pajama set and he really loves it. I gave him it after he went on the potty. It is so fun to see him get so excited over little gifts. After Tyler goes on the potty we sing "Tyler is so awesome, Tyler is so great!" It is so much fun. Tyler then dances around and sings "I'm so awesome, I'm so awesome!" Sometimes Tyler will say that it is hard to go on the potty and Tony taught him that doing hard things makes us stronger and better. Tyler now says that when we talk about getting stronger or doing hard things. It is way cute how he's learning things so fast.
I guess we will see what happens tonight. We are planning on going to church tomorrow and then to my parents for dinner, so I hope that he does well. I will plan on bringing extra underwear and shorts for I am sure we will need them, but I hope that I am wrong.

Day #2 - Potty Training (SUCKS)
I totally spaced posting last night, so I am doing it now while both boys are taking naps. So yesterday was day #2 of this awesome journey they call "Potty Training." He did a little better yesterday. He made it to the potty most of the time. He did pee his pants one time when I put him in time out for not listening. It's almost like he thinks that he can do whatever he wants just because he's potty training...he is so wrong about that.
He did wake up once during the night all wet, but I just changed his shirt and underwear and put a towel over the spot and he went back to sleep and then woke up dry. So that was very good for his first night with no diaper. He went poop two or three times...all in his underpants. I caught one when he just started, but I didn't catch the others. He just has no signs that is about to poop or is currently pooping. So, that kind of sucks.
We have been trying to stay positive and still give him lots of praise, but I tell you what, that has been hard too. Sometimes I just want to yell "I told you to tell me if you had to go potty...AHHHHHHH" - but this method doesn't look highly on that so I refrain. I should refrain anyway because I know that yelling is not going to potty train him, it is only going to make things harder.
He didn't ask for a diaper either, another small victory. I even got him to sit on the regular toilet (with a potty chair on top) before his bath and he even peed. He doesn't like big toilets at all. Then he peed a little more right before bed and slept the whole night without an accident. I say that is a WONDERFUL thing.
All in all the 2nd day wasn't too terrible, but I will be so happy when all this potty training stuff is done!

Day #1 - Potty Training
I started my 3 Day Potty Training adventure today. It has been a rough one. Tyler was woken up too early by Josh and so that did not start the day off well. He wasn't too happy about putting on underwear, but once it was on he was fine. We had some fun Toy Story plates and cups that he got when we started the day and he was really happy about that. I gave him lots of juice and waited for him to have to go to the bathroom. A little pee came out and he told me that he was wet, so we rushed to the bathroom, but he refused to go on the potty. We did that three more times within the next 10 minutes (I knew that he must have a bladder full), so I moved the potty from the bathroom into the front room so he could still watch his show. This worked pretty good because then I noticed him dancing around so I put him on the potty and within a couple minutes he was going pee...lots of pee. I couldn't believe that it just kept coming out. Tyler was whining while he was peeing, I think he was having a hard time with actually peeing in the potty and not a diaper. But he did it and I was very happy for that. It was the first time that he actually went real pee on the potty, and not just droplets.
He had a lots of accidents where he just peed a little, enough to wet the underwear but not enough to need to go anymore in the potty. He pooped twice...in his underwear. I missed the first time while I was making Josh's lunch, but then I caught the second one because he was peeing and so he happened to finish while he was on the potty. So that was good, I guess.
My cousin, Robin, came over and about 5:30ish we took Josh for a stroller ride. Josh and I both needed a break from potty training. So Tony was in charge. When we got back from a nice walk we found Tony and Tyler asleep in the chair. It was only 6:00. Way too early for Tyler to go to sleep. So Tony put Tyler down and that woke him up and he just cried, so I just laid with him and he went back to sleep. So I hope that he sleeps all through the night. He is just in underwear and I am sure that he will wet the bed, but that is part of the learning. I sure can't wait until this is over and he is all potty trained. Until then, day number two here I come!

It's getting closer
Thursday is the big day that I start my Potty Training Boot Camp. Really the method that I am going to use is called "3 Day Potty Training." It is suppose to potty train your kid for days and nights. Tyler is really excited and we have been talking about it for a while now. I had to wait until I had 3 full days that I could devote to staying home and doing this. I have lots of underwear, drinks, and treats all ready to go. We told Tyler that once he was all potty trained that he could have a new back pack for school. He is really excited for his back pack and for getting to go to school. For some reason he thinks that he will be able to take the bus to school. I try to tell him that mommy will take him to school, but he is pretty set on riding the bus. I hope he isn't too disappointed when I drop him off at preschool. But first things first, he has to be potty trained. Wish me luck...I will need it.

Bells on Temple Square
We went down town with Derek and parked under the Conference Center and then took Trax to The Gateway to eat dinner. We ate at Z Tajas. It was okay. I thought that it would be better, but was kind of disappointed. Derek had to leave right after dinner to go and get ready for the concert, but Suzanne and I stayed a went to Old Navy. I got Tyler a new hat and then we headed back to the Trax. It was raining the whole time, so that wasn't so much fun. I was so worried that I will slip and fall the whole time that I walked way slow all around down town. Lucky for me Suzanne was patient with me.
A big thanks to Tony's mom and dad for watching the boys and for letting them spend the night. They had 6 of their grandkids at their house for a big sleep over last night. Tyler always has a good time with his cousins and this was Josh's first sleep over. They both did really good. Tyler fell asleep on the ride home, he definitely needed it after a fun sleep over. Oh the fun times that we all have.

Short trip to the cabin
Today we decided to go up to the cabin for a couple hours. Tony had switched out the car seats, so Tyler got to use his big boy booster seat. He is such a cutie with his sippy cup and George monkey. I can't believe how big he looks in his booster seat. I was going to get a picture of Josh in his big seat, but I forgot
It was a little chilly up at the cabin, but mostly quite nice. Once we got there we played with the toys for a while, but then decided to go on a four-wheeler ride before Josh's nap. It was Josh's first four-wheeler ride, and he LOVED it! He would giggle with joy when Tony would take a sharp turn. We put him in the front back so that he would be the safest. That actually worked out really well.
Tyler sat with me and had a really good time too. He always loves going on four-wheeling rides. There is still some snow up there and a lot of random springs flowing with water. Because of that, we didn't go on too long of a ride. After we went back and put Josh down for his nap, the rest of us went down to the pond to check out the fish. We didn't see too many but we had a good time. After lunch and some video playing time we went on another four-wheeler ride before we headed home. We had a good time, but it was nice to come home and get some things done too.
